One Shoe Doesn't Fit All: A Contextual Approach to Therapeutic Footwear for People at Risk of Diabetes‐Related Foot Ulceration

open access: yesJournal of Foot and Ankle Research, Volume 19, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction People at risk of diabetes‐related foot ulcers are recommended to always use therapeutic footwear when weight‐bearing, to help prevent ulcers. These recommendations are supported by good quality evidence, yet adherence by patients to using this footwear is low.

Conditions leading to exceptionally high temperatures in shallow tropical lakes

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, Volume 71, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract Factors leading to exceptionally high temperatures in shallow tropical waters are examined with high‐resolution measurements and application of a 3‐dimensional hydrodynamic model in an Amazon floodplain lake. Highest near‐surface (0.05 m) temperatures in open water ranged from 31.0 to 37.5°C. Within mats of floating plants maximum temperatures

The effects of single versus successive warm summers on an intertidal community

open access: yesOikos, Volume 2026, Issue 6, June 2026.
To accurately predict how organisms and ecological communities will respond to future conditions caused by climate change, we must consider the temporal dynamics of environmental stressors, including the effects of repeated exposures to stress. We performed a two‐year passive thermal manipulation in coastal British Columbia, Canada to determine how ...

Programmable Fabric‐Based Soft Pneumatic Actuators for Wearables: A Review

open access: yesSmall Structures, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
This review summarizes recent advances in fabric soft pneumatic actuators (FSPAs), emphasizing programmable design strategies, diverse actuation deformation modes, material selection, and emerging applications. We highlight how geometric constraints, material distribution, and specialized fabrication methods govern longitudinal, bending, torsional, and
