Hole fluids for deep ice core drilling

open access: yes, 2002
P(論文)This paper is based on the data published in research report of P. G. Talalay and N. S. Gundestrup; Hole fluids for deep ice core drilling : A review. Copenhagen University, Copenhagen, 1999,120p. In the practice of deep ice core drilling only three

The competition between gravity and flow focusing in two-layered porous media

open access: yes
The gravitationally driven flow of a dense fluid within a two-layered porous media is examined experimentally and theoretically. We find that in systems with two horizontal layers of differing permeability a competition between gravity driven flow and ...

A review of indicators and identification of gaps: Deep-sea habitats [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A range of national and international legislation, obligations and commitments aim to promote and maintain a healthy and biologically diverse marine environment from shallow coastal waters to the deep sea.

A 17 Year Old With Developmental Delay Presenting With Increasing Confusion and Imbalance

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Methylmalonic acidemia is an autosomal recessive genetic disorder primarily caused by defects in methylmalonyl‐CoA mutase and cobalamin (vitamin B12) metabolism. These defects disrupt the tricarboxylic acid cycle and oxidative phosphorylation, leading to the abnormal accumulation of metabolic products such as methylmalonic acid, propionic acid,

Solitary waves in compressible deep fluids

open access: yes, 1990
Solitary waves in incompressible deep fluids are described to the first order in the wave amplitude by the Benjamin-Davis-Ono equation [J. Fluid Mech. 29, 559 (1967); J. Fluid Mech. 29, 593 (1967); J. Phys. Soc. Jpn. 39, 1082 (1975)].

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Youth With Childhood‐Onset Lupus: A Randomized Clinical Trial

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Our objective was to determine the feasibility and acceptability of the Treatment and Education Approach for Childhood‐Onset Lupus (TEACH), a six‐session cognitive behavioral intervention addressing depressive, fatigue, and pain symptoms, delivered remotely to individual youth with lupus by a trained interventionist.

The geochemistry and geomicrobiology of relict hydrothermal sulphide deposits

open access: yes, 2000
The diagenetic re-mineralisation of seafloor-sulphide deposits and the role of microbes in the metal-exchange processes were investigated in metalliferous sediments from the Alvin relict hydrothermal zone in the TAG area at 26º8'N (Mid-Atlantic Ridge ...

Perturbation of Sounds in Liquid Helium II : by Relative Motion between Super and Normal Fluids [PDF]

open access: yes, 1975
Liquid helium II is represented by Landau's two-fluid model and the sounds are defined as the singular surfaces in it. The propagation velocities of the first, second and fourth sounds are perturbed by the relative motions between the super and normal ...

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Planar Solid‐State Nanopores Toward Scalable Nanofluidic Integration Based on CMOS Technology

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We present a scalable silicon‐based fabrication strategy for planar solid‐state nanopores to enable their integration with complex nanofluidic systems. Prototype devices demonstrate normal voltage‐current characteristics, good noise performance, and appreciable streaming currents. Our CMOS‐compatible fabrication process offers precise geometric control
