Super Absorbent Polymers in Environmental Remediation [PDF]

open access: yesGlobal NEST Journal, 2013
Laboratory studies reported earlier, have shown very promising results in the selective removal of dyes from aqueous solutions by a commercially available (super absorbent polymer) SAP, Jalshakti® (JS). JS is mesoporous in nature and is a potential adsorbent for the basic dyes studied.

Molecular Dynamics Studies of Shape Memory Polymers: From Bead–Spring Models to Atomistic Simulations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Coarse‐grained (left) and atomistic (right) models of the shape memory polymer ESTANE ETE 75DT3 are shown schematically. The two representations bridge molecular detail and mesoscopic description. Both models capture shape memory behavior, linking segmental mobility and conformational relaxation of anisotropic chains to macroscopic recovery, and ...

Machine Learning‐Supported Analysis for Predicting and Visualizing Nonlinear Relationships Between Material Properties in Electroplated Chromium Layers

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study applies machine learning regression to predict chromium layer thickness in decorative trivalent chromium electroplating, using 441 experiments from laboratory‐scale (1L) and pilot‐scale (14L) setups. Tree‐based models, particularly CatBoost, outperformed linear regression by capturing nonlinear parameter interactions (R2$R^2$ up to 0.77 ...

Super-absorbent swellable polymer as grouting material for treatment of karst water inrush

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mining Science and Technology, 2021
Grouting is the most commonly used method to control water inrush in underground engineering. Traditional cement-based materials are easy to dilute and hard to coagulate under the influence of large flow and high-velocity water inrush.

Additive Manufacturing of Alumina‐Reinforced Elastomers

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Vat‐photopolymerized elastomers reinforced with platelet‐shaped alumina exhibited preferential orientation, reduced porosity, and significantly enhanced mechanical performance. A 3 wt% platelet loading increased tensile strength from 12.4 to 45.7 MPa, highlighting the critical role of filler morphology in elastomeric VPP composites.
