The Effect of σ Phase Content on the Hot Working Properties of Super Austenitic Stainless Steel Containing 7Mo-0.42N

open access: yes
In the present study, super austenitic stainless steel containing 7Mo-0.42N was isothermally treated at 1100 °C, 1200 °C, and 1250 °C for different times, in order to obtain the samples with different σ precipitate content of 7%, 1.4 ...

Effect of Postweld Heat Treatment on Laser‐Welded Duplex Stainless Steel: Crystallographic Patterns and Fatigue Behavior

open access: yessteel research international, Volume 97, Issue 6, Page 3267-3281, June 2026.
Laser welding of duplex stainless steel disrupts phase balance, promotes nitride precipitation, and reduces fatigue resistance. Postweld heat treatment restores austenite and dissolves nitrides, but the resulting crystallography and phase morphology still impair fatigue performance.

Accelerated Fatigue Testing of High‐Speed Steel

open access: yesFatigue &Fracture of Engineering Materials &Structures, Volume 49, Issue 6, Page 2156-2166, June 2026.
ABSTRACT The staircase method is commonly employed in the characterization of metals to determine their fatigue limit. In this approach, the stress amplitude is systematically varied around the assumed fatigue limit in consecutive tests. However, its applicability for in‐process optimization in alloy design and development is limited by the large ...
