Modeling of the Tail Slap for an Underwater Projectile within Supercavitation
Detailed process of the tail slap for an underwater projectile in supercavitation is studied in this paper. Firstly, the horizontal equation of motion for the projectile and a dynamic model of the projectile’s tail slap are introduced through a mathematical derivation, including a simple harmonic motion model of the projectile within the ...

A Comparative Study of Supercavitation Phenomena on Different Projectiles Shapes in Transient Flow by CFD [PDF]
Body shape of high-speed underwater vehicles has a great effect on theSupercavitation behaviour. The transient flow around either partially cavitating orsupercavitating body affects the trajectory of high-speed underwater vehicles.Commercial code (ESI ...

New technology for ship bilge and oily water separation
Authors offer a new method for bilge and oily water (BOW) separation which is based on the use of a hydrodynamic process of supercavitation with artificial ventilation of the cavitational cavern. With local origin in the flow of a supercavitating cavern, there will always be saturated water vapor inside of it.

Analysis on Multistable Motion Characteristics of Supercavitating Vehicle
Due to complex underwater environment, when the initial condition of launching is subjected to low external disturbance, the motion trace of a supercavitating vehicle might display many different motion states during underwater navigation. With the aim of addressing this problem, based on the dynamic map, in the present work the multistable phenomena ...

A fixed‐length Boundary Element Method (BEM) is used to investigate the super‐ and partial cavitating flows around various axisymmetric bodies using simple and reentrant jet models at the closure zone of cavity. Also, a simple algorithm is proposed to model the quasi‐3D cavitating flows over elliptical‐head bodies using the axisymmetric method.
