Nowcasting of a supercell storm with VERA [PDF]
On 13th May 2003, a severe weather event took place in Vienna, located in the eastern part of Austria at the foothills of the Alps. A supercell storm was reported by storm chasers, including a tornado, large hail and flash floods due to heavy precipitation, causing damage to both people and to goods in parts of Vienna downtown, which is a rather rare ...

Infrasound generation by tornadic supercell storms [PDF]
AbstractAcoustic wave generation by turbulence in a stratified, moist atmosphere is studied. It is shown that, in saturated moist air turbulence, in addition to the Lighthill's quadrupole and dipole sources of sound (related to stratification and temperature fluctuations), there exist monopole sources related to heat and mass production during the ...

Lightning and microphysics in a EULINOX supercell storm [PDF]
Abstract A combined analysis of data from a C-band polarization diversity Doppler radar and a 3D VHF interferometric lightning mapping system is presented for the 21 July 1998 EULINOX supercell thunderstorm. Its lower positive charge center emitted much more VHF radiation than expected from the well-known tripole concept.

A Three-Dimensional Simulation of Supercell Convective Storm [PDF]
A supercell convective storm is simulated by using a cloud-resolving model. Numerical experiments have been performed in 3D by using the same domain size, with a different spatial and temporal resolution of the model.

Radar Characteristics of Straight-line Damaging Wind Producing Supercell Storms
Based on S-band Doppler weather radar data and damaging wind gust records, 56 damaging straight-line winds events from 2002 to 2020 above 25 m·s-1 caused by supercell storms are investigated.
