Investigation of Atmospheric Conditions Associated with a Storm Surge in the South-West of Iran

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2021
Severe thunderstorms are often accompanied by strong vertical air currents, temporary wind gusts, and heavy rainfall. The development of this atmospheric phenomenon over tropical shallow water zones, such as bays, can lead to intensification of ...

Unveiling the Role of Curvature in Carbon for Improved Energy Release of Ammonium Perchlorate

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
High‐curvature carbon materials identified via machine learning and simulation can enhance the heat release and combustion performance of ammonium perchlorate. ABSTRACT The catalytic role of carbon curvature in the thermal decomposition of ammonium perchlorate (AP) remains largely unexplored. To address this gap, this study employs machine learning and

Atomistic Mechanisms Triggered by Joule Heating Effects in Metallic Cu‐Bi Nanowires for Spintronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Bi doped metallic Cu nanowires are promising for spintronics thanks to the stabilization of a giant spin Hall effect. However, heat resulting from current injection forces Bi to leave solution, forcing segregation into monoatomic decorations which evolve into coherent crystalline aggregates.

The 2008 Super Tuesday Tornado Outbreak: Synthetic Dual Doppler Analysis of Contrasting Tornadic Storm Types [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
During the Super Tuesday Tornado Outbreak on 5-6 February, a significant number of storms passed within about 40 km of WSR-88D radars. This distance, combined with the significant motion vector (from the southwest at 20-25 m per second) of relatively ...

Boosting Photo‐Pyroelectric Effect via Tunable Polarization and Interfacial Defect Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reports Ba(Ti0.85Zr0.15)O3 nanocatalysts with enhanced polarization and oxygen‐vacancy‐rich interfaces for efficient NIR‐II photo‐pyroelectric therapy. Zr doping boosts the pyroelectric coefficient and accelerates polarization switching, while oxygen vacancies improve photothermal conversion and surface reactivity.

Evaluation of Supercell Storm Triggering Factors Based on a Cloud Resolving Model Simulation [PDF]

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Atmospheric Sciences, 2019
An attempt has been made in this study to examine the conditional instability parameters in the selected area and to determine themain ingredients responsible for initiation and evolution of supercell storm over Skopje, Macedonia on 6 August 2016. WRFmodel forecasts provide the basic meteorological parameters for cloud model initialization and the ...

Enhanced Energy Transfer from a Metal–Organic Framework to a Highly Confined Organic Phosphorescent Dye

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A phosphorescent dye was designed to fit in a hand‐to‐glove fashion into the 1D‐pore channels of MIL‐68(In). We synthesized MIL‐68(In) as powder and thin films, loaded the dye into the pores with controlled packing, and found that the phosphorescence and quantum yield are enhanced.
