A lead‐on‐sapphire superconducting cavity of superior quality

Journal of Applied Physics, 1986
A cavity consisting of a superconducting lead film on a sapphire substrate has been fabricated to obtain the enhanced frequency stability possible with this configuration. The cavity exhibits a quality value Q exceeding 2×109 in its TE011 mode with a resonant frequency of 2.689 GHz. Methods of fabrication and testing of the cavity are presented in this

Lead Alloys for Superconducting Cavities

IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science, 1985
For the superconducting separated orbit cyclotron Tritron six large, wedge shaped cavities for simultaneous acceleration of 19 parallel ions beams are needed. The indirectly cooled superconducting cavities with frequencies of ~170 MHz ± 3 % will be made of copper electroplated with lead alloy.

Influence of a Superconducting Lead on Orbital Entanglement Production in Chaotic Cavities

Brazilian Journal of Physics, 2015
We study orbital entanglement production in a chaotic cavity connected to four single-channel normal-metal leads and one superconducting lead, assuming the presence of time-reversal symmetry and within a random matrix theory approach. The scattered state of two incident electrons is written as the superposition of several two-outgoing quasi-particle ...

Fabrication and rf surface resistance of superconducting lead cavity by a press forming technique

Electronics and Communications in Japan (Part I: Communications), 1980
AbstractThis paper describes fabrication and characteristics of 10‐GHz‐band TM010‐mode superconducting cavities with electroplated lead films on the walls of press‐formed copper shells. The cavity is made up of two symmetrical pieces of copper, and rf current flows parallel to their joint planes.

Surface resistance of superconducting lead TM010 mode cavities fabricated by an inside surface electroplating technique

Journal of Applied Physics, 1981
Several superconducting lead cavities in the TM010 mode at 9.7 GHz were investigated at low rf input power (≲3 mW). The cavities were prepared by deep drawing copper substrates and then depositing lead by means of a new electroplating technique to obtain a continuous film on the inside surface of the cavity.

Surface-resistance measurements in TE011-mode cavities of superconducting indium, lead and an indium-lead alloy at low and high RF magnetic fields

Physica, 1971
Abstract The superconducting surface resistance of Pb, In and In 0.92 Pb 0.08 was measured between 1.5 K and 4.2 K at low- and high-power levels in TE 011 -mode cavities resonating at 2.85 GHz. A residual surface resistance of 9.4 × 10 -8 ohms was achieved in the lead-plated cavity corresponding to a Q of 8.3 × 10 9 .

Superconducting lead cavities at 35 GHz

Proceedings of the IEEE, 1973
An investigation of machined superconducting lead cavities operating in the circular cylindrical TE 011 mode at 34.8 GHz is reported. Measured values of the surface resistance and the shift of the resonance frequency are presented and compared with calculated values.
