Superconducting phenomena in systems with unconventional magnets

Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter
In this work we review the recent advances on superconducting phenomena in junctions formed by superconductors and unconventional magnets (UM). Conventional magnets, such as ferromagnets and antiferromagnets, are characterized by broken time-reversal ...

An achromatic gantry for proton therapy with fixed-field superconducting magnets

, 2019
A novel concept for a superconducting, fixed-field bending section is presented for use in a proton therapy gantry. The large momentum acceptance of this design allows for treatment over the full proton energy range of 70-220 MeV with fixed field in the ...

Magnetic and Superconducting Nanowires

Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2005
This article is focused on the use of electrodeposition and of various nanoporous templates for the fabrication of metallic nanowires made from single metals (Ni, Co, Pb, Sn), alloys (NiFe, CoFe, CoPt), and multilayers (Co/Cu, NiFe/Cu). An overview is given of our recent studies performed on both magnetic and superconducting nanowires.

Magnetic field induced superconductivity

Journal of Applied Physics, 1982
The electrical resistance R and magnetic susceptibility χ of the pressure induced superconductors SnxEu1.2−xMo6S8 have been investigated as a function of magnetic field H up to 17 T and at pressures up to 18 kbar. Anomalous behavior is observed both in R versus H and χ versus H.

Superconducting Magnets

2015
This chapter discusses several general comments on superconducting magnets and presents the details of how levitation is implemented in a superconducting bearing. It reviews the main features of superconducting magnets used for particle accelerators and colliders.

Magnetic separation using superconducting magnets

Physica C: Superconductivity, 2001
Abstract Since the 1970s, magnetic separation has been increasingly used for purification of liquids, such as heavy-metal ion removal from laboratory waste water, purification of kaolin clay in the paper-coating industry, waste water recycling in the steel industry, and recycling of glass grinding sludge in cathode-ray tube polishing factories.

Manufacturing and Testing of Accelerator Superconducting Magnets

, 2015
Manufacturing of superconducting magnet for accelerators is a quite complex process that is not yet fully industrialized. In this paper, after a short history of the evolution of the magnet design and construction, we review the main characteristics of ...
