From polymer to SiOC glass: structure, microstructure, mechanical, and thermal properties

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 108, Issue 12, December 2025.
Abstract The transformation of a methyl‐siloxane into a SiOC glass in Ar and reactive CO2 atmosphere was studied through positron annihilation spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy, density, and calorimetric measurements, whereas the mechanical properties were monitored by nanoindentation and the thermal diffusivity measured by the laser flash method ...

Whistler Chorus Amplification in the Magnetosphere: The Nonlinear Free‐Electron Laser Model and the Ginzburg‐Landau Equation

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 19, 16 October 2025.
Abstract We present a novel nonlinear model for whistler‐mode chorus amplification based on the free‐electron laser (FEL) mechanism. First, we derive the nonlinear collective variable equations for the whistler‐electron interaction. Consistent with in situ satellite observations, these equations predict that a small seed wave can undergo exponential ...

High‐Entropy Magnetism of Murunskite

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 40, October 1, 2025.
The study of murunskite (K2FeCu3S4) reveals that its magnetic and orbital order emerges in a simple I4/mmm crystal structure with complete disorder in the transition metal positions. Mixed‐valence Fe ions randomly occupy 1/4 of the tetrahedral sites, with the remaining 3/4 being filled by non‐magnetic Cu+ ions.
