Bed‐scale quantitative discrimination of hyperpycnites from intrabasinal turbidites—Results from a channelised slope system in the Upper Carboniferous Westward Ho! Formation, United Kingdom

open access: yesSedimentology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Features considered indicative of hyperpycnites and intrabasinal turbidites overlap. Outcrop study presented here suggests that the Westward Ho! Formation forms an 800 m high deepwater‐slope system dominated by hyperpycnites. Taking this unit, and other successions where hyperpycnites have been described, as having been deposited solely from ...

Facies variations in gravelly cyclic steps deposited from turbidity currents: Miocene fan delta front deposits compared with a modern active fan delta, central Japan

open access: yesThe Depositional Record
Gravelly cyclic steps formed by turbidity currents have recently been widely recognised in the geological record. However, the comparison between modern and ancient gravelly cyclic steps remains challenging.

RELACIÓN DE LAS CURVAS DE ENERGÍA ESPECÍFICA Y PENDIENTE DE FRICCIÓN CON LAS ZONAS DE FLUJO LIBRE EN CANALES

open access: yesRevista EIA, 2008
Uno de los objetivos de un curso básico de hidráulica del flujo libre en canales es el análisis de perfiles del flujo gradualmente variado. Este trabajo proporciona una estrategia de enseñanza-aprendizaje que puede mejorar la práctica universitaria ...

Supercritical‐flow structures in a Cretaceous submarine channel–lobe transition zone, Point Loma Formation, California

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, Volume 12, Issue 3, June 2026.
We document meter‐scale antidune and cyclic‐step deposits in channel–lobe transition zone (CLTZ) deposits of the Upper Cretaceous Point Loma Formation in San Diego, California. These results provide new insights into sediment transport dynamics in CLTZ environments, which are critical for understanding reservoir connectivity and heterogeneity in ...

Terrestrial Analogs to Titan for Geophysical Research

open access: yesReviews of Geophysics, Volume 64, Issue 2, June 2026.
Abstract Saturn's moon Titan exhibits remarkable parallels to the Earth in many geophysical and geological processes not found elsewhere in the solar system at the present day. These include a nitrogen atmosphere with a condensible gas—methane—replacing the Earth's water, leading to an active meteorology with rainfall and surface manifestations ...

Extraction of Phospholipids From Crude Rapeseed Oil by n‐Hexane/Alcohol System: Effects of Solvent Composition on Extraction Performance and Oil Quality

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 5, May 2026.
Integrated analysis of extraction performance, phospholipid composition, oil quality, and multivariate relationships in green phospholipid recovery from crude rapeseed oil. ABSTRACT Rapeseed oil contains endogenous phospholipids (PLs) and other minor bioactive components, but conventional PL extraction methods commonly rely on chloroform‐based solvent ...

Geomorphic Effectiveness of an Extreme Flood in a Mountain River: Evidence From Pre‐ and Post‐Event Surveys in a Subtropical Region of Southern Brazil

open access: yesHydrological Processes, Volume 40, Issue 5, May 2026.
The extreme flooding of April 2024 caused a complete “geomorphic reset”, resulting in a 24% widening of the channel and a transition to critical or supercritical flow regimes. The energy of the event broke through the stable armouring layer, reducing the armouring ratio from 7.9 to 4.9 and intensely removing fine sediments from the subsurface.

Potential of solid‐state microwaves in lab‐scale chemical‐process development

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Technology &Biotechnology, Volume 101, Issue 5, Page 1077-1093, May 2026.
Abstract BACKGROUND The integration of a solid‐state microwave (MW) generator into a newly designed, versatile MW reactor ensures improved energy efficiency, precise process control and broader application potential. In its most particular feature, the device supports the modification of dielectric‐radiation orientation and can be operated under ...
