Liquid superheat during nonequilibrium boiling

Heat and Mass Transfer, 2008
Heat and mass transfer processes in a pure liquid subject to intense heating is investigated. The temperature escalation rate in a heated pure liquid is controlled by two competing processes; the external power deposition and the rate of nuclei formation and growth in the liquid, which acts as a heat sink.

A Superheater Chemical Cleaning Study

CORROSION 1985, 1985
Abstract Chemical cleaning of superheat/reheat areas of fossil fueled steam generators is a viable method to control solid particle erosion in turbines. Extensive planning prior to chemical cleaning is essential, including screening of prospective chemical solvent systems and varying conditions. Tube samples from appropriate areas should

Failure analysis of superheater tube

Engineering Failure Analysis, 2015
Abstract The failure analysis of a ruptured superheater tube after 20 years service in the oil-fueled boiler, as the typical problems in power plants, was investigated. A thin-lipped rupture at failed region was observed in superheater tube. By measuring the tube’s wall thicknesses far from failed region, non-uniformity was seen.

Boiling Liquid Superheat

1975
Publisher Summary The chapter focuses on the boiling process and examines how to make predictions of heat transfer with the required accuracy. It presents an overview of how to stimulate further research in boiling heat transfer by introducing an appropriate method to aid in better understanding boiling phenomena.

FACTORS AFFECTING SUPERHEAT CONTROL

Journal of the American Society for Naval Engineers, 1951
SUMMARYA high steam temperature may be maintained constant over a wide load range with a convection superheater of reasonable size only by tolerating a high furnace gas‐exit temperature. If high furnace‐exit temperatures cannot be tolerated because slag‐forming fuels are to be burned, a reduction in the control range of the convection superheater must ...

Steam Superheater 800H Tube Failure

1993
Abstract An SB407 alloy 800H tube failed at a 100 deg bend shortly after startup of a new steam superheater. Three bends failed and one bend remote from the failure area was examined. Visual examination showed that the fracture started on the outside surface along the inside radius of the bend and propagated in a brittle, intergranular ...
