Numerical Study on Solidification Behavior and Structure of Continuously Cast U71Mn Steel
The solidification behavior and structure of continuous casting high rail U71Mn bloom, under different secondary cooling conditions and superheat, were numerically investigated using the Cellular Automaton-Finite Element (CAFE) model implemented with ...

ABSTRACT This study investigates the thermal performance of innovative biphilic boiling surfaces designed for CPU cooling applications using a two‐phase closed thermosyphon (TPCT) system. The surfaces were fabricated by applying composite coatings—comprising epoxy resin and diatomite particles functionalized with APTES and PFOTS silanes— onto Al1050 ...

Experimental Factors and Techniques for Pool Boiling Heat Transfer Enhancement: A Critical Review
ABSTRACT This review presents a comprehensive assessment of active strategies for enhancing pool boiling heat transfer, with a focus on techniques that do not rely solely on the boiling surface modification. It examines a broad range of methodologies including fluid additives, external fields, mechanical interventions, and thermal‐geometric tuning that

Modeling of the Melting of Aluminum Particles during the RH Refining Process
The aluminum content in oriented silicon steel obviously influences its magnetic properties. In the current work, the movement and melting process of added aluminum particles during Ruhrstahl-Heraeus (RH) treatment were simulated using a mathematical ...

Analysis of superheater tubes failure [PDF]
Failures of boiler pressure parts, which working in high temperature and pressure conditions are often caused by overheating or corrosion. These two parameters are decisive, but not the only ones. Local stress concentration also depends on the type of headers support and external loads from pipelines.

Cooling slope casting to obtain thixotropic feedstock [PDF]
Thixoforming, and related semi-solid processing routes for metallic alloys, require feedstock with a non-dendritic microstructure in the semi-solid state.

Evaluating Plasma Torches as a Low‐Decarburization Preheating Method for MgO–C Refractory Linings
This study evaluates direct current (DC) plasma torches using nitrogen as an alternative preheating method for magnesia‐carbon (MgO–C) refractory‐lined ladles. Full‐scale trials at 0.7 and 1.5 MW are compared to conventional gas burner. Plasma‐heated samples show lower decarburization and improved surface integrity due to partial sintering and reduced ...

Experimental pool boiling investigations of vertical coalescence for FC-72 on silicon from an isolated artificial cavity [PDF]
In this study bubble growth from an isolated artificial cavity micro-fabricated on a horizontal 380 µm thick silicon wafer was investigated. The horizontally oriented boiling surface was heated by a thin resistance heater integrated on the rear of the ...

Microstructure Evolution in Directionally Solidified Fe–C–Mn–(Si) Peritectic Steels
This study investigates how growth velocity and silicon additions affect dendritic morphology, primary arm spacing, and mushy‐zone evolution in directionally solidified quaternary peritectic steels. Silicon substantially broadens the freezing range and lengthens the mushy zone, increasing susceptibility to interdendritic cracking.
