Effects of ablations of the superior colliculi on spectral sensitivity in monkeys

Neuropsychologia, 1975
Abstract Spectral sensitivity of rhesus monkeys was determined before and after the total ablation of the superior colliculi. The hypothesis tested was that photopic spectral sensitivity would not be affected by the colliculectomy whereas the monkeys would loose scotopic sensitivity. This hypothesis was derived from the fact that photopic sensitivity

The influence of activation of the superior colliculi on convulsive activity during picrotoxin kindling

Neuroscience and Behavioral Physiology, 1993
It has been demonstrated in experiments in rats in which kindling was induced by repeated subconvulsive doses of picrotoxin (1.0 mg/kg) that the bilateral microinjection of picrotoxin, bicuculline, and penicillin into the deep layers of the superior colliculi of the corpora quadrigemina leads to the appearance of a generator of pathologically ...

The organization of neurons in the nucleus of the lateral lemniscus projecting to the superior and inferior colliculi in the rat

Brain Research, 1985
The topographic organization of neurons in the dorsal nucleus of the lateral lemniscus (DNLL) which project to the superior and inferior colliculi was studied using the retrograde horseradish peroxidase (HRP) and the fluorescent double labeling methods.

Single‐cell responses associated with rhythmic slow‐wave potentials in rat superior colliculi

Journal of Neuroscience Research, 1975
AbstractThe present study was designed to investigate the features of rhythmic slow‐wave potentials in the superior colliculi of rats and to study the relationship between these potentials and the activity of single collicular neurons. In contrast to studies in other portions of the visual system, rhythmic slow‐wave potentials in the colliculi fell ...

Inhibition of Labyrinthine Nystagmus by Visual Fixation: Effects of Ablation of Visual Cortex and Superior Colliculi

Annals of Otology, Rhinology & Laryngology, 1979
A study was conducted to destroy two specific areas of the cat's visual system in order to determine if these lesions would affect the visual inhibition of calorically-induced vestibular nystagmus. The occipital visual cortex was removed in eight cats and the superior colliculi were removed bilaterally in nine cats.

Effects of electrical stimulation of the superior colliculi on focal epileptic activity in the cerebral cortex

Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 1993
Acute experiments in rats showed that SC electrical stimulation (ES) (100 Hz, 5 V, 0.25 ms) resulted in suppression of the epileptic activity in contralateral strychnine-induced (0.1%; 1.0%) focus and shortening of the focus existence time. After electrocoagulation of SC ES-zone the EpA in the focus was restored.

In-vivo-Konnektivität der menschlichen Colliculi superiores gemessen mit Resting-State fMRT

2017
