Transcanal Endoscopic Ear Surgery for Conductive Hearing Loss in Postoperative Ears: A Report of Two Cases

open access: yesCase Reports in Otolaryngology, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Background Revision middle ear surgery for persistent conductive hearing loss after previous tympanoplasty or ossiculoplasty is technically demanding because of scar tissue, anatomical distortion, and the unpredictable status of the ossicular chain.

Bilateral Superior Semicircular Canal Dehiscence in Patient With Persistent Ear Pain

open access: yesActa Medica Alanya, 2019
Superior semcircular canal dehiscence is a radiological diagnosis which is associated with sound-induced hearing loss, vertigo, nystagmus and oscillopsia. The clinical manifestations have been explained by the absence of a bony cover, generating a ‘third

The State of High‐Resolution Imaging of the Human Inner Ear: A Look Into the Black Box

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 28, July 24, 2025.
High‐resolution imaging of the cochlea is challenged by numerous unique aspects of this organ, where sensorineural cells, crucial for hearing, are too small for conventional modalities like magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography. This article reviews current imaging techniques, emerging technologies, and innovations aimed at improving ...

Mondini-like malformation mimicking otosclerosis and superior semicircular canal dehiscence.

open access: yes, 2006
In 2003, it was reported that superior semicircular canal dehiscence can mimic otosclerosis because of low-frequency bone conduction hearing gain and dissipation of air-conducted acoustic energy through the dehiscence. We report the case of a 17-year-old

Tullio phenomenon in superior semicircular canal dehiscence (SSCD) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A 68-year-old woman presented with worsening sound-induced vertigo (Tullio phenomenon) and left-sided hearing loss. Weber's test lateralised to the affected ear and audiography confirmed mild conductive hearing loss.

Comparative Histopathologic Analysis of Inner Ear Damage in Meningitis: Otogenic Versus Meningogenic Routes

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, Volume 135, Issue 2, Page 864-872, February 2025.
A comparative study distinguishing histopathologic patterns of inner ear changes between meningogenic and otogenic routes in meningitis cases. Otogenic cases displayed a higher prevalence of changes in the spiral ligament and signs of early ossification, whereas meningogenic cases associated with a higher degree of vestibular damage.

Superior semicircular canal dehiscence: a new indication for middle fossa craniotomy. Case report.

open access: yes, 2004
Superior semicircular canal dehiscence is a recently described condition resulting in pressure-induced vertigo in affected patients. The diagnosis is established with the appearance of characteristic electronystagmographic and neuroimaging findings. This
