Association between sodium‐glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitor use and clinical outcomes in patients with type 2 diabetes after urinary tract infection

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 27, Issue 11, Page 6188-6199, November 2025.
Abstract Aims To evaluate whether initiating sodium‐glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) within 3 months after a urinary tract infection (UTI) is associated with improved long‐term outcomes in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), compared with dipeptidyl peptidase‐4 inhibitors (DPP‐4i).

Lower risk of cardiovascular events in patients initiated on semaglutide 2.4 mg in the real‐world: Results from the SCORE study (Semaglutide Effects on Cardiovascular Outcomes in People with Overweight or Obesity in the Real World)

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 27, Issue 11, Page 6691-6704, November 2025.
Abstract Aims In this first interim analysis of the SCORE study, we investigated the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) among individuals with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) and overweight/obesity but without diabetes who initiated semaglutide 2.4 mg in real‐world settings.

Automated Segmentation of the Pituitary and Pineal Glands

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 46, Issue 15, October 15, 2025.
This work presents a deep‐learning‐based tool for automatic segmentation of the pituitary and pineal glands. It has two novel aspects: it considers the anterior and posterior lobes as separate labels rather than a single, combined structure, and it is also the first deep‐learning protocol for pineal gland segmentation. ABSTRACT The pituitary and pineal

IgG and IgM Anti‐Phosphatidylserine/Prothrombin Complex Antibody Detection May Improve Classification Accuracy of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome

open access: yesACR Open Rheumatology, Volume 7, Issue 10, October 2025.
Objective Antiphospholipid antibody (aPL) syndrome (APS) classification requires a thrombotic event and detection of lupus anticoagulant (LAC), anticardiolipin antibodies (aCL), or anti–β2‐glycoprotein I (anti‐β2GPI) antibodies on two occasions ≥12 weeks apart. Here, we investigated the utility of anti–phosphatidylserine/prothrombin complex (anti‐PS/PT)

Heterogeneity Landscape of Circulating Tumor Cells in Clinical Utility

open access: yesAdvanced Therapeutics, Volume 8, Issue 10, October 2025.
This study reports the heterogeneity spectrum of circulating tumor cells. The factors involved in the spectrum promote CTCs to overcome barriers in the metastatic cascade but impact the clinical outcome of cancer patients. In summary, the heterogeneities in association with CTCs ultimately reduce patient survival and facilitate increasing mortality of ...

Cardiovascular Disease Meets Cancer: Exploring the Epidemiology in China and Homotherapy Targeting Intersectional Mechanisms

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 37, October 6, 2025.
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) and cancer are leading causes of death worldwide, with overlapping risk factors and pathophysiological mechanisms. This review explores shared pathways, including metabolic dysregulation, chronic inflammation, and gut microbiome alterations, highlighting dual‐benefit strategies such as lifestyle modifications and repurposed

Undescended retropharyngeal parathyroid adenoma with adjacent thymic tissue in a 13-year-old boy with primary hyperparathyroidism. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We describe a rare presentation of a symptomatic parathyroid adenoma located in an ectopic retropharyngeal position in a 13-year-old boy. Preoperative CT scan and MRI demonstrated the ectopic location of the parathyroid adenoma.
