Four-year follow-up on fatigue and sleep quality of a three-armed partly randomized controlled study in breast cancer survivors with cancer-related fatigue

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
Cancer-related fatigue (CRF) is a frequent long-term symptom in non-metastasized breast cancer patients (BC). This 4-year follow-up intended to compare the long-term effects of a 10-week multimodal therapy (MT: sleep education, psychoeducation, eurythmy-

The word-superiority effect and phonological recoding [PDF]

open access: yesMemory & Cognition, 1992
Previous work indicates that the locus of the word-superiority effect in letter detection is nonvisual and that letter names, but not letter shapes, are more accessible in words than in nonwords, that is, scrambled collections of letters (e.g., Krueger & Shapiro, 1979; Krueger & Stadtlander, 1991; Massaro, 1979).

Acquisition of superiority effects in multiple wh-questions

open access: yes, 2023
In this study, we ask when English-acquiring children begin to understand multiple wh-questions such as (1). We probe this using children’s sensitivity to a constraint on multiple question formation known as the superiority effect.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Clefts and anti-superiority in Moken [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We describe an extraction asymmetry in Moken that presents apparent Anti-Superiority effects. We then show that this asymmetry is not rooted in Superiority at all.

Structure‐forward targeting of claudins with synthetic binders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Claudins form the paracellular barriers between epithelial and endothelial tissues at tight junctions and are targets for molecular binders with the goal of modulating barrier permeability. Claudin‐binding molecules are relevant in drug delivery or in altering claudin interactions with disease‐causing proteins.

Better than my past self: Temporal comparison raises children’s pride without triggering superiority goals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Western societies offer children many opportunities for downward social comparisons (i.e., comparing oneself favorably to others). Such comparisons make children feel proud of themselves but could inadvertently trigger a desire to be superior to others ...

Adaptive Smoothness Constraint Ionospheric Tomography Algorithm

open access: yesSensors, 2020
Ionospheric tomography reconstruction based on global navigation satellite system observations is usually an ill-posed problem. To resolve it, an adaptive smoothness constraint ionospheric tomography algorithm is proposed in this work.

Engineering peptides into antibodies—opportunities and strategies for therapeutic innovation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Peptides and antibodies occupy complementary therapeutic niches. Peptides recognize difficult targets in a compact format, while antibodies add specificity, long half‐life, and effector functions. This review examines strategies that merge both modalities—peptide grafting into loops, terminal and Fc fusions, and bioconjugation—highlighting how ...
