Positive solutions for superlinear elliptic equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The existence of a positive, radial solution for superlinear elliptic boundary value problem in an exterior domain is proved, by the use of cone expansion fixed point ...

Local ‘Superlinearity’ and ‘Sublinearity’ for the p-Laplacian

open access: yesJournal of Functional Analysis, 2009
The authors obtain existence and multiplicity results for the parametric Dirichlet problem \(\Delta_p u+f_\lambda (x,u)=0\) set in a bounded domain, both in the subcritical and critical cases. Also, as a by product, some improved strong comparison principles and \(C^{1,\alpha}\) estimates are given.

Optimal subsampling for regression with mixed‐type predictors

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Statistics, EarlyView.
Abstract Subsampling has emerged as an appealing strategy to mitigate the computational and storage challenges imposed by large datasets. Recent subsampling techniques have shown notable computational gains for data dominated by numerical predictors. However, real‐world datasets frequently contain both numerical and categorical predictors.

Two types of ground state solutions for a periodic Schrodinger equations with zero on the boundary of the spectrum

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2015
This article concerns the Schrodinger equation $$\displaylines{ -\Delta u+V(x)u=f(x, u), \quad \text{for } x\in\mathbb{R}^N,\\ u(x)\to 0, \quad \text{as } |x| \to \infty\,.

Meniscus‐guided organic semiconductor single crystals: From fluid dynamics to morphology control and multifunctional applications

open access: yesFlexMat, EarlyView.
Centered on the multiscale meniscus, this review dissects mass transport in meniscus‐guided coating into parallel and lateral components. By analyzing the balance of multiple factors during crystallization, it establishes a clear morphology‐performance relationship.

Mixed TiO2–SiO2 thin coatings for selective adsorption and sunlight‐powered photodegradation of cationic pollutants

open access: yesResponsive Materials, EarlyView.
Environmental pollution and water scarcity demand innovative purification methods. This study presents a sol‐gel approach to fabricate mixed silica–titania thin films joining photocatalytic activity with selective sorption capability. The films exhibit higher surface area, enhanced degradation of cationic and improved performance over bare titania ...

Liquid‐Processed 2D Aromatic Amorphous Carbon: Defect Engineering and Universal Transport Scaling

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Liquid‐processed graphene oxide (GO) thin films undergo a controllable crystalline–to–amorphous transition driven by thermal quenching. By kinetically tuning oxygen‐driven defect formation during reduction, scalable 2D aromatic amorphous carbon phases are stabilized, directly linking nanoscale disorder and defect topology to electronic transport ...
