Supernova Remnants [PDF]

open access: yesHighlights of Astronomy, 1974
AbstractThe present structure and recent changes in Cas A are discussed. On the deepest available exposures the optical remnant of this supernova is seen to consist of an almost complete shell. The southern part of this shell is outlined by knots that have developed during the last decade.

The Masses of Supernova Remnant Progenitors in M33

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
Using resolved optical stellar photometry from the Panchromatic Hubble Andromeda Treasury Triangulum Extended Region survey, we measured the star formation history near the position of 85 supernova remnants (SNRs) in M33.

A radio supernova remnant associated with the young pulsar J1119-6127 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
We report on Australia Telescope Compact Array observations in the direction of the young high magnetic-field pulsar J1119-6127. In the resulting images we identify a non-thermal radio shell of diameter 15', which we classify as a previously uncatalogued

A Self‐Supervised Machine Learning Approach for the Estimation of Open‐Circuit Voltage Degradation in Photovoltaic Systems

open access: yesProgress in Photovoltaics: Research and Applications, EarlyView.
This study introduces a self‐supervised machine learning approach integrating physics‐based principles to estimate open‐circuit voltage (voc$$ {v}_{oc} $$) degradation in photovoltaic systems using SCADA data. By combining clustering and regression algorithms, our method detects performance deviations without labelled datasets.

Expansion Properties of the Young Supernova Type Iax Remnant Pa 30 Revealed

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
The recently discovered Pa 30 nebula, the putative type Iax supernova remnant associated with the historical supernova of 1181 AD, shows puzzling characteristics that make it unique among known supernova remnants.

Mind and Cosmos as Throughput Systems: A Convergence Through the Throughput Model

open access: yesSystems Research and Behavioral Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper advances a conceptual and mathematical foundations approach by applying the throughput model (TPM) to cosmic phenomena, reframing the universe as an extended information processing system. TPM's four stages, Perception, Information, Judgement and Decision Choice, are reformulated in explicit information‐theoretic and dynamical ...

The many sides of RCW 86: a type Ia supernova remnant evolving in its progenitor's wind bubble [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We present the results of a detailed investigation of the Galactic supernova remnant RCW 86 using the XMM-Newton X-ray telescope. RCW 86 is the probable remnant of SN 185 A.D, a supernova that likely exploded inside a wind-blown cavity.

An Account of Luck, Fortune, and Fate

open access: yesPhilosophy and Phenomenological Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Luck is one of our most important concepts. In this article, I first argue that extant accounts of luck are deeply flawed. I then argue for a hybrid account of luck that is based around the difference between skill‐based and non‐skill‐based events.

The Sub-parsec Scale Radio Properties of Southern Starburst Galaxies. I. Supernova Remnants, the Supernova Rate, and the Ionised Medium in the NGC 253 Starburst [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Wide-field, very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) observations of the nearby starburst galaxy NGC 253, obtained with the Australian Long Baseline Array (LBA), have produced a 2.3 GHz image with a maximum angular resolution of 15 mas (0.3 pc).

Self‐Driven Humidity Regulation via Hygroscopic Salt Cycling

open access: yesAggregate, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2026.
A series of antimony‐based inorganic‐organic metal halides with gradient water adsorption capacities is designed. The controlled release of the hygroscopic salt ACl from them during adsorption and re‐capture of ACl during the desorption process is achieved. The chemical bonds' reorganization and energy release enable the self‐driven desorption.
