Mitochondrial fatty acid oxidation is stimulated by red light irradiation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Light at different wavelengths has distinct effects on keratinocyte viability and metabolism. UVA light abrogates metabolic fluxes. Blue and green light have no effect on metabolic fluxes, while red light enhanced oxidative phosphorylation by promoting fatty acid oxidation. Keratinocytes are the primary constituents of sunlight‐exposed epidermis.

Multiple maxillary and mandibular supernumerary teeth in twins: 5-year follow-up

open access: yesJournal of Dental Sciences, 2014
This is a case report of multiple supernumerary teeth of identical twins with 5 years of follow-up. The occurrence of supernumerary teeth in twins is an unusual event.

Vacuolar transport and function of Saccharomyces cerevisiae sterol ester hydrolase Tgl1

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Tgl1, one of yeast sterol ester hydrolases, had been found on the lipid droplets where sterol esters are mainly stored. This study revealed that Tgl1 is transported into the vacuole depending on the ESCRT‐I–III complex, and that it exhibits intra‐vacuolar sterol ester hydrolase activity.

The anti‐CRISPR protein AcrIE8.1 inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system by directly binding to the Cascade subunit Cas11

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we present the structure of AcrIE8.1, a previously uncharacterized anti‐CRISPR protein that inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system. Through a combination of structural and biochemical analyses, we demonstrate that AcrIE8.1 directly binds to the Cas11 subunit of the Cascade complex to inhibit the CRISPR‐Cas system.

A Rare Case of Pyogenic Granuloma with a Natal Tooth [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2016
Natal teeth are teeth present in the oral cavity at the time of birth. It is extremely rare to find natal teeth in association with pathological conditions of the oral cavity.

The role and implications of mammalian cellular circadian entrainment

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
At their most fundamental level, mammalian circadian rhythms occur inside every individual cell. To tell the correct time, cells must align (or ‘entrain’) their circadian rhythm to the external environment. In this review, we highlight how cells entrain to the major circadian cues of light, feeding and temperature, and the implications this has for our

Surgical Management of Impacted Supernumerary Tooth and Odontome under General Anesthesia in an Emotionally Immature Child: A Case Report

open access: yesIndian Journal of Dental Sciences
The disorder known as hyperdontia is characterized by an excess of teeth or teeth that appear to be added to the normal amount of teeth. With a frequency ranging from 0.1% to 3.9% in permanent dentition and from 0.3% to 1.8% in deciduous dentition, it ...

Substrate specificity of Burkholderia pseudomallei multidrug transporters is influenced by the hydrophilic patch in the substrate‐binding pocket

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Multidrug transporters BpeB and BpeF from the Gram‐negative pathogen Burkholderia pseudomallei have a hydrophilic patch in their substrate‐binding pocket. Drug susceptibility tests and growth curve analyses using an Escherichia coli recombinant expression system revealed that the hydrophilic patches of BpeB and BpeF are involved in the substrate ...

A RADIOGRAPHIC STUDY OF RIB ANOMALIES IN PATIENTS OF VARIOUS CHEST DISEASES BELONGING TO NORTH INDIAN POPULATION AT A TERTIARY CARE CENTRE

open access: yesNational Journal of Medical Research, 2016
Background:Though congenital rib anomalies are reported to be of rare occurrence, these are now and then encountered as an incidental finding in chest X-rays, however in most of these cases patients are having other health issues rather than things ...
