Rotational panoramic radiographs-unusual triple images [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Currently clinicians advice rotational panoramic radiography (RPR) for preliminary investigation. Despite few inherent limitations, rotational panoramic radiography still remains the diagnostic tool of choice.

Dynamic Retinal Pathology in Glaucoma Progression Revealed by High‐Resolution Functional Imaging in Vivo

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
In this work, we investigated the dynamic retinal pathology of glaucoma from onset to late stages through longitudinal in vivo high‐resolution imaging in a silicone oil‐induced ocular hypertension (SOHU) glaucoma mouse model. We developed an optimized adaptive optics two‐photon excitation fluorescence microscopy (AO‐TPEFM) technique for morphological ...

Sox10 contributes to the balance of fate choice in dorsal root ganglion progenitors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The development of functional peripheral ganglia requires a balance of specification of both neuronal and glial components. In the developing dorsal root ganglia (DRGs), these compo- nents form from partially-restricted bipotent neuroglial precursors ...

Adhesion Forces of Dextran on Dental Enamel as a Function of Contact Time and pH Value

open access: yesphysica status solidi (a), EarlyView.
Dextran exhibits sawtooth‐shaped retraction curves on dental enamel, indicating multiple interaction points. Adhesion forces increase with contact time (0.35 nN at 10 s to >1.5 nN at 120 s) and are independent of pH (pH 4.5–13). Comparisons with other surfaces show that adhesion on enamel is lower but statistically insignificant at the 0.05 level ...

Phylogeny and historical biogeography of the Pachira sensu lato clade (Bombacoideae, Malvaceae) with a new infrageneric classification

open access: yesTAXON, EarlyView.
Abstract We explore phylogenetic relationships within the Pachira sensu lato clade (Bombacoideae, Malvaceae), test the monophyly of the genera Eriotheca and Pachira, and investigate their biogeographic history. The Pachira s.l. clade comprises ca. 72 species that traditionally have been placed in Eriotheca and Pachira. We sampled ca. 79% of its species

Mesiodens with Impacted Inverted Supernumerary Tooth: A Rare Case Report [PDF]

open access: yesDental Journal of Advance Studies
Supernumerary teeth (ST) occur in deciduous and permanent dentition, however, commonly occur in permanent dentition. Supernumerary teeth have a prevalence of 0.1–3.4%.

Supernumerary teeth and pseudarthrosis of the mandible in a young male from the mediaeval cemetery in Stenjevec [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Anthropological analysis of a young adult male from the mediaeval Stenjevec skeletal series revealed supernumerary teeth on both sides of the mandible, and an un-united subcondylar fracture of the mandible.

Piezo‐type mechanosensitive cation channel 1 in bone biomechanics and its multidimensional distribution characteristics in skeletal tissue

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
PIEZO1 is highly correlated with mechanical stimulation, controlling bone growth and remodeling, while showing specific distribution characteristics under distinct loads. Upon dialectical review, this manuscript proposes that PIEZO1 could serve as a target for osteoporosis and a quantitative indicator for monitoring bone health in real‐time.
