Effects of GnRH on superovulated cattle

Theriogenology, 1989
Gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) was given to 109 cows and heifers during the course of 224 superovulations. Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) was administered twice daily (5 or 6 mg) for 3.5 to 4 days beginning on any of Days 9 to 14 of the estrous cycle; prostaglandin (45 mg PGF(2)alpha or 750 ug cloprostenol) was given in a split dose on the ...

Superovulation and Embryo Transfer in Cattle

Science, 1981
About 17,000 bovine pregnancies were produced by superovulation and embryo transfer in North America in 1979. The major use of these techniques is to increase the reproductive rate of valuable cows. Other applications include circumventing infertility, exporting embryos, and testing potential carriers for Mendelian recessive alleles.

Digynic triploidy after superovulation

Nature, 1977
A possible explanation for digynic triploidy after superovulation is briefly discussed. It is suggested that digynic triploidy may be closely related to the aging of eggs at fertilization rather than gonadotropin-induced superovulation. It is known that aging of eggs results in a decrease in the fertilization rate an increased incidence of abnormal ...

Impact of Superovulation for Women with Endometriosis

Seminars in Reproductive Medicine, 2013
Superovulation (SO)/Intrauterine insemination (IUI) has been used as a treatment approach for endometriosis-associated infertility. The existing medical literature regarding SO in endometriosis patients is composed of heterogeneous studies that differ in terms of study design, SO protocols, the addition of IUI, and comparison groups.

SUPEROVULATION AND PRESERVATION OF MAMMALIAN EGG

Acta Endocrinologica, 1969
ABSTRACT Immature animals can be superovulated as soon as an antrum develops within the ovarian follicle. From birth to puberty the sensitivity to gonadotropins increases gradually and at rates which are species and probably breed specific. Eggs obtained from immature donors are functionally equivalent to those of adults.

Analysis of Superovulation in the Adult Hamster

Endocrinology, 1962
Hamsters injected with 30 IU of pregnant mares' serum (PMS)1 on Day 1 of the estrous cycle ovulated an average of 70 eggs, with the duration of ovulation and cycle length slightly prolonged. If one ovary was removed at the time of PMS treatment, the remaining ovary ovulated 34.8 eggs.
