FE‐Based Biomechanical Analysis of AZ31B Sub‐Orbital Osteosynthesis Implant Manufactured by Superplastic Forming

open access: yesAdvanced Theory and Simulations, Volume 9, Issue 5, May 2026.
A concurrent finite‐element framework is presented for the design of a patient‐specific AZ31B sub‐orbital osteosynthesis implant manufactured by superplastic forming. The approach couples process simulation and biomechanical analysis to quantify the effects of thickness heterogeneity and grain‐growth‐induced strength degradation.

Breakdown of the superplastic deformation behavior of heterogeneous nanomaterials at small length scales

open access: yesMaterials Research Letters, 2021
Ultrafine-grained and nanocrystalline materials frequently show an enhanced rate sensitivity of their mechanical behavior, which is generally assumed to be the consequence of interface sliding or thermally activated dislocation processes at the ...

Influence of the Initial Blank Geometry on the Final Thickness Distribution of the Hemispheres in Superplastic AZ31 Alloy

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
This work deals with the design of the thickness of an AZ31 alloy blank, which is a superplastic magnesium material, to manufacture a hemisphere with a uniform final thickness. The finite element technique was used for the design process.

Influence of Back Pressure on the Microstructure and Texture Characteristics of AA5083 During Equal Channel Angular Pressing Under Thermal Effect

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 5, May 2026.
The study focused on the microstructural evolution and the effects of temperature on the ECAP process. The alloy's response to grain refinement and its relationship with ECAP at elevated temperatures were thoroughly examined. ABSTRACT In the current investigation was to examine how the microstructure of AA5083 changed under various processing settings ...

Velocity‐Iterative Directional Annealing Enables Ultra‐Elongated Columnar Grains and Exceptional Ductility in TiAl Alloys

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT This study introduces a novel velocity‐iterative directional annealing (IDA) strategy to overcome stagnation challenges in columnar grain growth of Ti‐48Al‐2Cr‐2Nb alloys. By dynamically adjusting hot zone migration rates across iterative cycles, the IDA protocol achieved 92.2% synchronization between anisotropic α‐grain boundary (GB ...

Frequency Dependence of Cationic Interdiffusion Kinetics in Er2O3/Y2O3 Diffusion Couples Under AC Flash Events

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 109, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT The cationic interdiffusion behavior during flash events was investigated using Er2O3/Y2O3 diffusion couples under alternating current (AC) electric fields at different frequencies (50–2000 Hz) with similar specimen temperatures. The diffusion length of Er3+ in the Y2O3 body was athermally enhanced with increasing frequency.
