Development of Aluminum Scandium Alloys for Hydrogen Storage Valves

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 24, December 2025.
Different aluminum alloy series and various aluminum‐scandium alloys with differing Sc and Zr levels are evaluated for use in hydrogen storage valve production. The alloys undergo hardness testing, optical microscopy, and tensile strength analysis, with hardening behavior studied under varying conditions.

Finite element assisted prediction of ductile fracture in sheet bulging of magnesium alloys [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
There is currently a growing demand for energy efficiency, particularly in reducing the rate of oil consumption. One solution in this area is for the aerospace and automotive industries to produce lighter vehicles that are more fuel efficient.

Characterization of Diffusion‐Creep Olivine Fabric and Its Identification in Natural Peridotite: Repeated Pure Shear and Equal‐Channeling Angular Pressing Tests

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 130, Issue 11, November 2025.
Abstract We performed repeated pure shear and equal‐channel angular pressing tests on Fe‐free olivine +10 or 20 vol% diopside aggregates to investigate the characteristics of crystallographic preferential orientation (CPO) development in olivine during diffusion creep.

Achieving Complex Nanostructures: The Role of Hydrogen in Controlling Mechanical Alloying and Microstructure Evolution in the TiVZrNbHf‐Cu System

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 33, September 4, 2025.
This study highlights the drastic influence hydrogen has on the microstructure evolution during severe plastic deformation. High‐pressure torsion of a TiVZrNbHf‐Cu composite results in mechanical alloying and subsequent amorphization, whereas replacing the high entropy alloy with the corresponding hydride stabilizes a two‐phase microstructure.

Strain Localization Along Aphrodite Terra's Chasmata System, Venus: The Role of Frictional Melting and Fault‐Melt Interaction

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, Volume 130, Issue 9, September 2025.
Abstract We analyze large‐scale shear zones that are exposed along the equatorial chasmata of Eastern Aphrodite Terra to understand the role of strain localization in the deformation of the Venusian crust. These shear zones dip at low angles opposite to the slopes, forming terraces that expose portions of the shear planes.

A Microscopic Examination Of Void Formation In Superplastic Materials

open access: yes, 1979
There are two distinct groups of superplastic materials, depending on whether the final fracture surface has a large cross-sectional area at optimum ductility or the specimen gradually pulls down to a very fine point.

Analysis of the failure mechanism of ZnO varistors influenced by high‐resistance media based on multi‐field coupling simulation

open access: yesHigh Voltage, Volume 10, Issue 3, Page 673-679, June 2025.
Abstract This study focuses on the distribution of high‐resistance media (pores and spinels) within ZnO $\text{ZnO}$ varistors and explores the mechanical and electrical failure mechanisms of varistors under different pulse actions. Micro‐CT technology revealed that the proportion of high‐resistance media in the edge area is much higher than in the ...

Load relaxation behavior of superplastic Al alloys

open access: yes, 2019
The high temperature deformation behavior of superplastic Al alloys, such as 8090 AI-Li and 7475 Al, has been studied experimentally within the framework of an internal variable theory of inelastic deformation.

Properties of the strain rate sensitivity function produced by the linear viscoelasticity theory and existence of its maximum with respect to strain and strain rate

open access: yesVestnik Samarskogo Gosudarstvennogo Tehničeskogo Universiteta. Seriâ: Fiziko-Matematičeskie Nauki, 2020
Strain rate sensitivity of stress-strain curves family generated by the Boltzmann–Volterra linear viscoelasticity constitutive equation (with an arbitrary relaxation modulus) under uni-axial loadings at constant strain rates is studied analytically as ...

One‐Pot Synthesis and Characterization of Magnetic α‐Fe2O3/CuO/CuFe2O4 Nanocomposite for Multifunctional Therapeutic Applications

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2025.
This article presents the sol‐gel auto combustion synthesis of α‐Fe2O3/CuO/CuFe2O4 using Centella Asiatica plant extract as a green precursor. Significant antifungal and antioxidant properties were shown by this compound. This nanocomposite also investigated as a drug nanocarrier at different pH levels and compared by fitting the data to various drug ...
