Developing noise standards for future supersonic civil aircraft

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2013
With renewed interest in civil supersonics, NASA and industry researchers continue to make progress toward enabling quiet civil supersonic aircraft. Gulfstream Aerospace has long been interested in the development of an economically viable supersonic business jet; however, many regulatory challenges still remain for routine supersonic operation ...

Rapid Estimation of Supersonic Civil Aircraft Sonic Boom Characteristics in Standard Atmosphere Based on Analytical Solutions. Cruise Flight

Akustičeskij žurnal
A method for rapid estimations of supersonic civil aircraft sonic boom characteristics in standard atmosphere is proposed. The piece-wise linearity of the temperature profile and the absence of atmospheric wind allow to completely reduce the problem on the geometry of the propagation of sonic boom waves to an algebraic form.

Turnable CO 2 laser measurements of composition and concentrations in multicomponent wake behind supersonic civil aircraft

SPIE Proceedings, 2005
The paper describes experimental and theoretical investigations on tunable CO2-laser-assisted measurements of the composition and concentrations in multicomponent wake behind supersonic civil aircraft. An experimental facility based on a tunable CO2 laser and multipass cell is presented and results of experiments on determination of substances typical ...
