Static Domain Walls in N=1 Supergravity
We study supersymmetric domain walls in N=1 supergravity theories, including those with modular-invariant superpotentials arising in superstring compactifications. Such domain walls are shown to saturate the Bogomol'nyi bound of wall energy per unit area.

Type I Vacua from Diagonal $Z_3$-Orbifolds [PDF]
We discuss the open descendants of diagonal irrational $Z_3$ orbifolds, starting from the $c=2$ case and analyzing six-dimensional and four-dimensional models.

The LVS parametric tadpole constraint
The large volume scenario (LVS) for de Sitter compactifications of the type IIB string is, at least in principle, well protected from various unknown corrections. The reason is that, by construction, the Calabi-Yau volume is exponentially large. However,

M-Theory (the Theory Formerly Known as Strings) [PDF]
Superunification underwent a major paradigm shift in 1984 when eleven-dimensional supergravity was knocked off its pedestal by ten-dimensional superstrings.

Inflation with a graceful exit in a random landscape
We develop a stochastic description of small-field inflationary histories with a graceful exit in a random potential whose Hessian is a Gaussian random matrix as a model of the unstructured part of the string landscape.

Generalised Penrose Limits and PP-Waves
In this paper we construct generalised Penrose limits for the solutions of massive type IIA supergravity. We consider a Freund-Rubin type solution and apply these {\it massive} Penrose limits and obtain supersymmetric pp-wave which is a standard type IIA

N=1 supersymmetric SU(4)xSU(2)LxSU(2)R effective theory from the weakly coupled heterotic superstring [PDF]
In the context of the free-fermionic formulation of the heterotic superstring, we construct a three generation N=1 supersymmetric SU(4)xSU(2)LxSU(2)R model supplemented by an SU(8) hidden gauge symmetry and five Abelian factors.

In this note we revisit some of the recent 10d and 4d arguments suggesting that the uplifting of supersymmetric AdS vacua leads to a flattening of the potential, preventing the formation of dS vacua.

New de Sitter solutions of 10d type IIB supergravity
We find and study 17 new de Sitter solutions of ten-dimensional (10d) type IIB supergravity with intersecting D 5-branes and orientifold O 5-planes, as well as a new Minkowski one.

Branes in Anti de Sitter Space-Time [PDF]
An intense study of the relationship between certain quantum theories of gravity realized on curved backgrounds and suitable gauge theories, has been originated by a remarkable conjecture put forward by Maldacena almost one year ago.
