Expanded Clay Production Waste as Supplementary Cementitious Material
Global warming stands as one of the most significant challenges facing our planet, primarily due to the substantial emissions of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Among the major contributors to these emissions is the cement industry, which ranks as one of the largest sources of CO2 pollutants.

Residual capability of alkali binding by hydrated pozzolanic cements in long-service concrete structures [PDF]
An experimental procedure was developed and applied to cement pastes made with two different pozzolanic cements (CEM IV/B (P) and CEM IV/B (V)) in order to ascertain the existence of a residual capability of alkali binding by long-term hydrated ...

From Waste to Value: Conversion of Calcium Sulfate to Vaterite via Carbon Capture and Storage
This study introduces a new concept for carbon management that relies on the carbonation of industrial gypsum waste and yields phase‐pure vaterite at ambient conditions without any additives. The obtained vaterite is further shown to be a reactive material that develops compressive strength in aqueous suspensions like conventional cements.

Materials exist that are useful for gamma scintillation, radiation shielding, neutron‐gamma pulse shape discrimination (PSD), thermal neutron detection, or high refractive index applications. While certain materials have exhibited optimal performance for each of these applications, none achieve multiple functions.
