Abstract The assembly of Gondwana involved several Pan‐African orogens, although their extension into ice‐covered Antarctica remains contentious. Particularly problematic is our understanding of the Kuunga orogenic system in East Antarctica, including its eroded architecture and temporal evolution. The remote Charcot Province, at the easternmost extent

On the occurrence of scheelite in the Archaean Malene supracrustal rocks, southern West Greenland
Scheelite in the Godthåbsfjord area (fig. 1) was found in heavy mineral concentrates from stream sediments in 1982, and in situ scheelite was discovered in 1982 on Storø in Godthåbsfjord (Appel, 1983a). During 1983 further work was carried out on the islands of Storø and Sermitsiaq in Godthåbsfjord and on the Store Malene mountain next to Nuuk (Godthåb)

Temporal and Hf isotope geochemical evolution of southern Finnish Lapland from 2.77 Ga to 1.76 Ga [PDF]
The southern Finnish Lapland area in the central part of the Fennoscandian shield is a geologically complex zone comprising several Archean blocks and Paleoproterozoic supracrustal belts all of which are intruded by voluminous Paleoproterozoic granites ...

Tourmalinites in supracrustal rocks in the Bjørnesund area, West Greenland
In the mid-Archaean supracrustal rocks of Bjørnesund south of Fiskenæsset metre wide anthophyllite-rich zones are found hosted in mafic volcanics. These zones, which are locally associated with sulphides, are interpreted as alteration zones from hydrothermal solutions which circulated through the volcano-sedimentary pile; in places they contain thin ...

Abstract Eocene magmatism in southern Tibet records deep geodynamic processes associated with the India‐Asia collision. The Quxu batholith, a representative segment of the Gangdese magmatic belt, hosts widespread mafic microgranular enclaves (MMEs) indicating magma mixing.

Precambrian crustal evolution and Cretaceous–Palaeogene faulting in West Greenland: 207Pb-206Pb dating of magnetite, monazite and allanite in the central and northern Nagssugtoqidian orogen, West Greenland [PDF]
Pb-isotopic data for magnetite from amphibolites in the Nagssugtoqidian orogen, central West Greenland, have been used to trace their source characteristics and the timing of metamorphism. Analyses of the magnetite define a Pb-Pb isochron age of 1726 ± 7

Petrological and structural analysis of the Haukivesi area between Varkaus and Savonlinna, Finland [PDF]
The Haukivesi area is part of a Precambrian orogenic belt. Its supracrustal rocks can be regarded as having been deposited in a geosynclinal system consisting of an eugeosynclinal basin in the northern and central Haukivesi area and a miogeosynclinal ...

Rapid thaw of the Earth's cryosphere in response to anthropogenic warming highlights the need to identify and understand the contrasting signatures of past ice‐sheet stability and collapse. The Kvarken archipelago, western Finland, at the centre of the former Fennoscandian Ice Sheet (FIS), has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in recognition
