Structural systematics of aryl-1,3-dithiane derivatives: crystal and energy-minimised structures, and Hirshfeld surface analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The crystal structure analysis of three aryl-1,3-dithiane derivatives, with aryl=4-methylphenyl (1), 4-chlorophenyl (2) and 2,4-dichlorophenyl (3), shows the three molecules to have very similar conformations, with the aryl ring lying on an approximate ...

A2A Adenosine Receptor Agonists With Last‐Step Enzymatic 18F‐Labelling Potential (Fluorinase) for Positron Emission Tomography (PET)

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, Volume 29, Issue 5, 7 February 2026.
This study exploits the comparable binding tolerances between the fluorinase enzyme and the A2A adenosine receptor towards the development of novel C‐2 functionalised 5′‐fluorodeoxy‐adenosine (FDA)‐based agonists with enzymatic 18F‐labelling capability for positron emission tomography (PET).

A systematic structural study of halogen bonding versus hydrogen bonding within competitive supramolecular systems

open access: yesIUCrJ, 2015
As halogen bonds gain prevalence in supramolecular synthesis and materials chemistry, it has become necessary to examine more closely how such interactions compete with or complement hydrogen bonds whenever both are present within the same system.

Stimuli‐Responsive Afterglow from Luminescent Liquid Crystal Elastomers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 7, 2 February 2026.
An active glow luminescent system for encoding, signaling, and tracking in dark environments has been developed by integrating inorganic ultralong afterglow phosphors with adaptive liquid crystal elastomer actuators. Abstract Stimuli‐responsive luminescent polymeric materials which combine afterglow emission with mechanical flexibility and adaptability

Difluoro Carbenes: From Genuine Gold Complexes to Unprecedented Metallacyclic Reactivity

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 137, Issue 46, November 10, 2025.
Thanks to chelating ligands and enhanced backdonation, genuine gold(I) difluorocarbenes persistent for hours at −30 °C or even 0 °C have been obtained. In addition to classical Fisher‐type electrophilic behavior, these complexes display unprecedented reactivity toward alkenes and 1,3‐dienes.

Crystal structure of 2-amino-3-ethyl-4,5-dihydro-1,3-thiazol-3-ium 3-chlorobenzoate

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E: Crystallographic Communications, 2015
The title salt, C5H11N2S+·C7H4ClO2−, comprises a 2-amino-3-ethyl-4,5-dihydro-1,3-thiazol-3-ium cation in which the five-membered ring adopts an envelope conformation with the methylene C adjacent to the S atom being the flap, and a planar 3 ...

Perplexing Coordination Behaviour of Potentially Bridging Bipyridyl-Type Ligands in the Coordination Chemistry of Zinc and Cadmium 1,1-Dithiolate Compounds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The X-ray structural chemistry of zinc and cadmium 1,1-dithiolates (for example, xanthate, dithiophosphate and dithiocarbamate) with potentially bridging bipyridyl-type ligands (for example, 4,40-bipyridine) is reviewed.

Easier, Safer, and Greener: Unlocking the Power of Solid Reagents in Organic Reactions by Mechanochemistry

open access: yesChemistryEurope, Volume 4, Issue 2, February 2026.
This review highlights the powerful synergy between mechanochemistry and solid reagents to replace hazardous substances traditionally used in organic synthesis. Such an approach offers a safer and more sustainable pathway for conducting organic reactions, with potential benefits in both reactivity and selectivity. The use of solid bases, acids, and gas

Recent Advances in Homogeneous Catalysis with Platinum Group Pincer Complexes: Hydrogen‐Mediated Transformations and Cross‐Coupling Reactions

open access: yesThe Chemical Record, Volume 26, Issue 1, January 10, 2026.
Platinum group pincer complexes are highly efficient catalysts. Additionally, their high activity enables challenging transformations with low catalyst loading. Herein, we summarize the most relevant advances of catalysis involving platinum group pincer complexes. The use of pincer complexes based on platinum group metals is undoubtedly one of the most
