The Suprascapular Nerve

Atlas of Anatomy of the peripheral nerves, 2017

Comparison of the Analgesic Efficacy between Arthroscopically Placed Continuous Suprascapular Nerve Block and Ultrasound-guided Continuous Superior Trunk Block: A Double-blinded Randomized Controlled Trial

Anesthesiology, 2023
Background: Single-shot suprascapular nerve block and superior trunk block have been reported to provide a noninferior analgesic effect after shoulder surgery with a lesser incidence of hemidiaphragmatic paresis compared with interscalene brachial plexus

Infraspinatus-teres minor (ITM) interfascial block: a novel approach for combined suprascapular and axillary nerve block

Regional anesthesia and pain medicine, 2023
Background Combined suprascapular and axillary nerve block could be an analgesic option for shoulder pain control. The current description of this technique requires performing the block procedures at two different sites without consideration for ...

Entrapment of the suprascapular nerve [PDF]

open access: possibleThe Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. British volume, 1999
Operative release for entrapment of the suprascapular nerve was carried out in 35 patients. They were assessed at an average of 30 months (12 to 98) after operation using the functional shoulder score devised by Constant and Murley. The average age at the time of surgery was 40 years (17 to 67).

Low volume proximal suprascapular nerve block after arthroscopic shoulder surgery – A randomised, controlled trial

Acta Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica, 2022
A proximal suprascapular nerve block has been suggested as an alternative to an interscalene brachial plexus block after arthroscopic shoulder surgery. The aim of this randomised controlled trial was to compare the analgesic and opioid‐sparing effect of ...

Suprascapular Nerve Entrapment

Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1993
Fifty-four patients with suprascapular nerve entrapment were evaluated on an average of 5.6 years (range, 2-9 years) after surgical release. There were 32 males and 22 females. Supposed causative factor was exertion at work or vacation in 36 cases. Sixteen patients had an atrophy of the supraspinatus and 26 of the infraspinatus muscle.

Cadaveric study investigating the phrenic-sparing volume for anterior suprascapular nerve block

Regional anesthesia and pain medicine, 2021
Background This cadaveric study investigated the maximum effective volume of dye in 90% of cases (MEV90), required to stain the suprascapular nerve while sparing the phrenic nerve during the performance of an anterior suprascapular nerve block.

Is Suprascapular Nerve Block Better Than Intra-articular Corticosteroid Injection for the Treatment of Adhesive Capsulitis of the Shoulder? A Randomized Controlled Study.

Ortopedia Traumatologia Rehabilitacja, 2021
BACKGROUND Adhesive Capsulitis of shoulder (AdCS) is a treatment dilemma for surgeons. Intraarticular Corticosteroid Injection (IACI) has shown only short-term benefit in improving shoulder-related disability.
