Arthroscopic Suprascapular Nerve Decompression at the Suprascapular Notch
Arthroscopy - Journal of Arthroscopic and Related Surgery, 2006Abstract The suprascapular notch is a common location for entrapment of the suprascapular nerve. Open surgical procedures for excision of the transverse scapular ligament are associated with pain relief and functional improvement. Arthroscopic procedures have been described for decompressing ganglion cysts, which compress the nerve at

Morphometry and variations of the human suprascapular notch
Morphologie, 2015The present study proposes a simple method to study variations in shape and dimensions of suprascapular notch, to classify different types and subtypes of notch and to measure the thickness of superior transverse scapular bar (ossified superior transverse ligament of scapula).Seven hundred and twenty-eight dried scapulae were observed, examined and ...

Ultrasound (US)‐guided suprascapular nerve block (SSNB) is a widely used procedure and while describing the US‐guided SSNB in the suprascapular notch, the suprascapular fossa is often visualized and injection is performed in that location. Although it can be done in both location, to inject the right area, the terminology should be settled and the ...

Arthroscopy - Journal of Arthroscopic and Related Surgery, 2009
Abstract Suprascapular nerve entrapment can cause disabling shoulder pain. Suprascapular nerve release is often performed for compression neuropathy and to release pressure on the nerve associated with arthroscopic labral repair. This report describes a novel all‐arthroscopic technique for decompression of the suprascapular nerve at ...

Topographical anatomy of the suprascapular nerve and vessels at the suprascapular notch
Suprascapular nerve entrapment caused by the superior transverse scapular ligament (STSL) causes pain, and limitation of motion in the shoulder. To relieve these symptoms, suprascapular nerve decompression is performed through the resection of STSL.

Compression of the Suprascapular Nerve by a Ganglion at the Suprascapular Notch
Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1981The suprascapular nerve was compressed by a ganglion in the suprascapular notch in a 28-year-old carpenter. Electromyogram studies, especially mean latency time, were essential for accurate diagnosis. Excision of the ganglion relieved the pain and led to recovery of the motor function of the shoulder.

“Pseudo-suprascapular notch”: is it a sonographic trap in suprascapular nerve block?
Regional Anesthesia & Pain Medicine, 2019Background and objectives The aim of the study was to describe the radiological anatomy of the pseudo-suprascapular notch—a structure localized at the floor of the supraspinatus fossa, just below the true suprascapular notch.

Entrapment of the suprascapular nerve at the spinoglenoid notch
Annals of Neurology, 1982AbstractA 58‐Year‐old fencing instructor developed selective denervation of the infraspinatus muscle. It was found to be caused by entrapment of the suprascapular nerve at the spinoglenoid notch due to a hypertrophied inferior transverse scapular ligament.

Injury of the Suprascapular Nerve at the Spinoglenoid Notch
The American Journal of Sports Medicine, 1998From 1985 to 1996, we observed 38 cases of isolated atrophy of the infraspinatus muscle in athletes; all were involved in volleyball at a competitive level. There were 20 men and 18 women with a mean age of 26 years (range, 15 to 27). At the time of the first examination, 35 of these athletes had no pain and were treated with exercises to strengthen ...
