Supraventricular tachycardia [PDF]

open access: yesMedical Journal of Australia, 2009
Supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) is a common cardiac rhythm disturbance; it usually presents with recurrent episodes of tachycardia, which often increase in frequency and severity with time. Although SVT is usually not life-threatening, many patients suffer recurrent symptoms that have a major impact on their quality of life.

Cardiac arrhythmias in patients with bronchial asthma

open access: yesМедицинский совет, 2022
Introduction. According to modern data, bronchial asthma (BA) is an independent risk factor for the development of cardiac arrhythmias (CA), and the use of long-acting β2-agonists (LABA) in basic therapy may further increase the risks of CA.Aim. To study

Paroxysmal Supraventricular Tachycardia [PDF]

open access: yesCureus, 2019
Supraventricular tachycardia is a common emergency department (ED) pathology that frequently leads to hospital admission, but this may not be necessary in all cases. Here, we present a supraventricular tachycardia patient who was discharged from the ED after vagal maneuvers.

Cardioversion of Supraventricular Tachycardias [PDF]

open access: yesCirculation, 1969
Cardioversion was employed in 33 episodes of supraventricular tachycardia in 25 patients. Of these, 18 were episodes of paroxysmal atrial tachycardia with block and the remainder were atrial, junctional, and undefined supraventricular tachycardias. Cardioversion was successful in restoring sinus rhythm in 23 (70%).

Valsalva maneuver using a Handmade Device in Supraventricular Tachycardia Reversion; a Quasi Experimental Study

open access: yesArchives of Academic Emergency Medicine, 2017
Introduction: The use of vagal nerve stimulation is identified as a proper treatment option in patients with stable supraventricular tachycardia (SVT). This study aimed to assess the success of Valsalva maneuver via a handmade device in reversion of SVT.

Supraventricular arrhythmia in pregnancy [PDF]

open access: yesHeart, 2022
The physiological changes during pregnancy predispose a woman for the development of new-onset or recurrent arrhythmia. Supraventricular arrhythmia is the most common form of arrhythmia during pregnancy and, although often benign in nature, can be concerning. We describe three complex cases of supraventricular arrhythmia during pregnancy and review the

Supraventricular tachyarrhythmia in patients with Brugada syndrome: A single-center study

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, 2013
Background: Brugada syndrome is a distinct form of idiopathic ventricular fibrillation. We retrospectively investigated the incidence and clinical implications of supraventricular tachyarrhythmia in patients with Brugada syndrome. Methods: We reviewed 69

Associations of Left Atrial Function and Structure With Supraventricular Ectopy: The Multi‐Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2021
Background High levels of supraventricular ectopy are associated with greater risk of atrial fibrillation, stroke, and death. Little information is available about differences by race/ethnicity in the extent of supraventricular ectopy, or about whether ...

The Mechanism of Supraventricular Tachycardia [PDF]

open access: yesCirculation, 1970
In six successive patients, none of whom had the Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, recurrent episodes of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) were analyzed to determine the mechanism by which this arrhythmia is initiated and sustained. In each patient, simultaneous intracavitary atrial electrograms and surface electrocardiograms were recorded ...

Can troponin-I be used as an independent predictor of cardiac dysfunction after supraventricular tachycardia in children with structural normal heart? [PDF]

open access: yesVojnosanitetski Pregled, 2019
Introduction. Elevated cardiac troponin gives excellent accuracy in the identification of myocardial damage in children, but it can also be elevated in a series of other diseases. Case report.
