Catheter Ablation: Evolution and Efficiencies

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The present review includes a discussion the goals and pitfalls of efficiency in the medical profession, a historical perspective on the evolution of catheter ablation in the field of electrophysiology (EP), and the data regarding the relationship between efficiency and outcomes in the EP lab. Focus on efficacy is critical to maximize resource

Repolarization adaptation to rapid change in heart rate in human models – a review

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend This review focuses on non‐invasive assessment of repolarization duration and dispersion (heterogeneity) adaptation to change in heart rate (HR). HR was increased incrementally by left atrial pacing during an electrophysiology (EP) study and by a bolus injection of atropine and in a step up/down fashion by repeated right atrial ...

Potential health benefits of cold‐water immersion: the central role of PGC‐1α

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Cold‐water immersion (CWI) elicits autonomic, somato‐motoric (shivering thermogenesis), endocrine and metabolic, sensory transduction, and local biophysical effects that may converge on the transcriptional co‐activator PGC‐1α (centre).

Perspectives on Clinical Biomarkers Based on the Pathophysiology of Arrhythmias

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 41, Issue 6, December 2025.
Overview of atrial fibrillation and biomarkers. Biomarkers for atrial fibrillation can be broadly divided into factors causing atrial fibrillation and factors resulting from atrial fibrillation. Nucleic acids and extracellular vesicles released into the extracellular space mediate communication between cells and tissues and are deeply involved in the ...

Zero Fluoroscopy Ablation of Arrhythmias in Patients With Congenital Heart Disease

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 41, Issue 6, December 2025.
Zero‐fluoroscopy radiofrequency ablation using 3D electroanatomic mapping was performed in 42 patients with mild, moderate, or great complexity congenital heart disease. Acute success was 100%, with no complications and minimal recurrence over 48 months. This approach eliminates radiation exposure while maintaining safety and efficacy across select yet

Normal Immune Function in a Newborn With Early Identification of a SAMD9 Mutation Presenting With Growth Restriction, Thrombocytopenia, and Primary Adrenal Insufficiency

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 11, November 2025.
A de novo SAMD9 variant G1048R is associated with MIRAGE syndrome symptoms in a neonate. SAMD9 G1048R's predicted tertiary structure has similarity to known MIRAGE variants. SAMD9 expression is increased in pediatric viral infection. Neonatal MIRAGE may lack immune deficiency and myelodysplastic syndrome.

Evaluating the Impact of Catheter Ablation on Cardiovascular and Cerebral Outcomes in Atrial Fibrillation With Heart Failure and Preserved Ejection Fraction

open access: yesClinical Cardiology, Volume 48, Issue 11, November 2025.
This study summarizes the 5‐year outcomes of catheter ablation in patients with atrial fibrillation and HFpEF. Compared to medical therapy alone, ablation was associated with reduced all‐cause mortality, ischemic stroke, and heart failure exacerbation, based on matched cohort analysis from a global real‐world database.
