A Cost–Benefit Analysis of Minimally Invasive Versus Open Vein Harvesting in Cardiac Surgery Based on the German DRG System

open access: yesJournal of Cardiac Surgery, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Background: A cost–benefit analysis of open vein harvesting (OVH) versus endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) for leg wound complications in intermediate‐ and high‐risk cardiac surgical patients was performed based on the German Diagnosis‐Related Groups (G‐DRG) in a retrospective cohort.

Resentful and religious: How religiosity can mitigate the detrimental effects of workplace embitterment on helping behaviors

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Administrative Sciences / Revue Canadienne des Sciences de l'Administration, Volume 41, Issue 1, Page 40-57, March 2024.
Abstract This study aims to establish how employees' experiences of workplace embitterment may direct them away from voluntary efforts to help coworkers, mediated by emotional exhaustion and moderated by religiosity. Three rounds of survey data, collected from employees and their supervisors in various Pakistani organizations, reveal that a sense of ...

Effectiveness of road safety interventions: An evidence and gap map

open access: yesCampbell Systematic Reviews, Volume 20, Issue 1, March 2024.
Abstract Background Road Traffic injuries (RTI) are among the top ten leading causes of death in the world resulting in 1.35 million deaths every year, about 93% of which occur in low‐ and middle‐income countries (LMICs). Despite several global resolutions to reduce traffic injuries, they have continued to grow in many countries.

Effect of Drainage and Consolidation on the Pore Water Pressures and Total Stresses within Backfilled Stopes and on Barricades

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, Volume 2019, Issue 1, 2019., 2019
The pore water pressures (PWPs) and total stresses during the placement of a slurried backfill in underground mine stopes are the key parameters for the design of barricades, built to retain the backfill in the stopes. They can be affected by the drainage and consolidation of the backfill.

Repositioning VU‐0365114 as a novel microtubule‐destabilizing agent for treating cancer and overcoming drug resistance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 18, Issue 2, Page 386-414, February 2024.
Microtubule‐targeting agents combat cancer, but resistance and adverse effects hinder their use. Employing gene expression‐based repositioning, we identified VU‐0365114 as a microtubule‐destabilizing agent. It shows broad‐spectrum anticancer activity, particularly in colorectal cancer cells.

Review of Resilience Evaluation Methods in Operational Highway Tunnel

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Transportation, Volume 2024, Issue 1, 2024.
The research on tunnel resilience has garnered increasing attention in recent years. Owing to prolonged exposure to natural or anthropogenic factors, the resilience level of many highway tunnels is continuously declining, rendering them susceptible to sudden accidents and challenging to restore postincident.

Spatially distinct, temporally stable microbial populations mediate biogeochemical cycling at and below the seafloor in hydrothermal vent fluids

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology, 2018
At deep-sea hydrothermal vents, microbial communities thrive across geochemical gradients above, at, and below the seafloor. In this study, we determined the gene content and transcription patterns of microbial communities and specific populations to ...

Hydrothermal vent fields discovered in the southern Gulf of California clarify role of habitat in augmenting regional diversity

open access: yesProceedings of the Royal Society B: Biological Sciences, 2017
Hydrothermal vent communities are distributed along mid-ocean spreading ridges as isolated patches. While distance is a key factor influencing connectivity among sites, habitat characteristics are also critical. The Pescadero Basin (PB) and Alarcón Rise (

The effect of vent burst pressure on a vented hydrogen–air deflagration in a 1 m3 vessel

open access: yesInternational journal of hydrogen energy, 2018
A series of experiments are conducted to investigate the effect of vent burst pressure on stoichiometric hydrogen–air premixed flame propagation and pressure history in a 1 m3 rectangular vessel in this paper.
