Surface-enhanced near-infrared absorption (SENIRA) spectroscopy

2016 IEEE SENSORS, 2016
We present first experimental demonstration of surface-enhanced near-infrared absorption (SENIRA) spectroscopy of molecular overtone and combination bands in the 1–2.5 μm wavelength range. The plasmonic enhancement platform of choice is nanoporous gold (NPG) disks which feature high-density plasmonic hot-spots of localized electric field amplification.

Unveiling the molecule–plasmon interactions in surface-enhanced infrared absorption spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yesNational Science Review, 2020
Abstract Nanostructure-based surface-enhanced infrared absorption (SEIRA) spectroscopy has attracted tremendous interest as an ultrasensitive detection tool that supplies chemical-fingerprint information. The interactions between molecular vibrations and plasmons lead to not only the enhancement of spectral intensity, but also the ...

Immunoassays Based on Surface-Enhanced Infrared Absorption Spectroscopy

Analytical Chemistry, 1998
A new type of biosensor for pathogens has been developed. The sensor produces spectral fingerprints of biological systems by using surface-enhanced infrared absorption (SEIRA) spectroscopy. Antibodies were immobilized onto a 10-nm-thick film of gold which had been previously deposited on a Si wafer.

Chemical Routes to Surface Enhanced Infrared Absorption (SEIRA) Substrates

Zeitschrift für Physikalische Chemie, 2018
Abstract Bottom-up strategies for fabricating SEIRA substrates are presented. For this purpose, wet-chemically prepared gold nanoparticles are coated with a polystyrene shell and subsequently self-assembled into different nanostructures such as quasi-hexagonally ordered gold nanoparticle monolayers, double layers, and honeycomb ...

Design of hollow metasurfaces for absorption sensors and surface enhanced infrared absorption

Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 2022
Abstract Absorption sensors detect variations in the imaginary part of refractive index with selectivity in sensing since analytes can be distinguished according to their characteristic absorption bands. In this study we combine the theoretical analysis based on temporal coupled mode theory and numerical calculations in order to derive ...

Molecule‐Enhanced Surface‐Enhanced Infrared Absorption Spectroscopy (MOSEIRA)

ChemPhysChem, 2007
AbstractSurface‐enhanced infrared absorption spectroscopy (SEIRA) of methanol, ethanol, 1‐propanol, and 2‐propanol in thin films on planar silver halide (AgX) fibers under slow N2 flow using 1 sec scans reveals structure in absorbance–time plots.

Infrared‐Responsive Colloidal Silver Nanorods for Surface‐Enhanced Infrared Absorption

Advanced Optical Materials, 2018
AbstractSurface‐enhanced infrared absorption (SEIRA) spectroscopy, the enhancement of molecular vibrational signals using resonant metal nanostructures, has recently attracted much attention owing to its potential use in molecular detection in chemistry, biology, and medicine. This study reports on the growth of high‐aspect‐ratio metal nanocrystals and

Bioanalytical Applications of Surface-enhanced Infrared Absorption Spectroscopy

Chinese Journal of Analytical Chemistry, 2012
Surface-enhanced infrared absorption spectroscopy (SEIRAS) has attracted extensive attention because it can be used to in-situ monitor the molecular adsorption at the interface, and provides the information of conformation and orientation at the molecular level.

Surface-Enhanced Infrared Absorption

2007
Molecules adsorbed on metal island films or particles exhibit 10-1000 times more intense infrared absorption than would be expected from conventional measurements without the metal. This effect is referred to as surface-enhanced infrared absorption (SEIRA) to emphasize the similarities with surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS).

Surface-Enhanced Infrared Absorption of CO on Platinized Platinum

Analytical Chemistry, 1999
We report here the first observation of surface-enhanced infrared spectroscopy on platinized platinum surfaces, as well as a thorough explanation of the resulting spectra. Smooth platinum electrodes were electrochemically platinized to produce regular metal island surfaces that led to enhanced absorption of the infrared spectrum of adsorbed carbon ...
