Surface-modified CuO layer in size-stabilized single-phase Cu2O nanoparticles
Applied Physics Letters, 2001Activated reactive evaporation has been used to grow copper oxide nanoparticles in the size range of 8–100 nm. X-ray diffraction spectra clearly show the presence of a single Cu2O phase. Detailed x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy studies show an increase in the ionicity of the Cu2O system with decreasing particle size.

Modeling of Surface Modified Layers in the Presence of Surface Irregularities
Journal of Tribology, 1996Finite element calculations that examine the effects of surface modification on the deformation produced by pure rolling contact are presented. The model simulates the repeated, two-dimensional (line) contact of a cylinder that is rolling over a semi-infinite half space.

AbstractElectrochemical oxidation of a phospholipid, phosphatidylcholine (PC), was accomplished at a 4‐aminothiophenol (ATP)‐modified gold electrode coated with a layer‐by‐layer assembly of an electrochemical catalyst (dirhodium phosphomolybdic acid), a trapping agent for PC (a cyclophane, CP, derivative, 1,4‐xylylene‐1,4‐phenylene‐diacetate), and a ...

Thermal analysis of microstructural evolution of Al2O3 surface modified layers
Surface and Coatings Technology, 2010Solidification behavior and microstructural evolution of surface modified layers in plasma cladding technique are studied via numerical simulations. Both the coupling effect of temperature and solid volume fraction are considered in the proposed thermal analytical model, by which the transient temperature distributions are calculated and the shape of ...

Properties of the surface-modified layer of plasma-oxidized poly(dimethylsiloxane)
MRS Proceedings, 2006ABSTRACTExposure of poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) to oxygen plasma creates a thin, stiff surface-modified layer that reaches a submicron depth. Due to a significant modulus mismatch between the stiff surface-modified layer and the compliant bulk PDMS the surface-modified layer forms intricate patterns of surface buckles when under compressive stress ...

Abstract In this study, Ca/Fe layered double hydroxide (LDH) with good accessible chemically active sites and with intercalate anions of citrate was prepared, and then 3-aminopropyl triethoxysilane as a silane coupling agent was used to modify the LDH surface. Then, in order to improve the thermal stability and removal efficiency toward bivalent Pb2+,

Surface Modified Layered Iron Vanadate As Bifunctional Electrocatalyst for Overall Water Splitting
ECS Meeting Abstracts, 2020Electrocatalysis water splitting is an attractive method to generate hydrogen from water. To date, the state-of-the-art catalysts to split water are based on noble metal, such as platinum for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and IrO2 and RuO2 for oxygen evolution reaction (OER). However, their scarcity and high cost limit the application. Therefore,
