Oscillatory Forces of Nanoparticle Suspensions Confined between Rough Surfaces Modified with Polyelectrolytes via the Layer-by-Layer Technique

Langmuir, 2012
This paper addresses the systematic study of surface roughness effects on the internal structuring of silica nanoparticle suspensions under confinement. The confining surfaces are modified by physisorption of layers of oppositely charged polyelectrolytes with the so-called layer-by-layer technique.

Barrier effects of polyaniline layer in surface modified MF-4SK/Polyaniline membranes

Russian Journal of Electrochemistry, 2011
An express method of synthesis of surface-modified membrane composites is suggested that allows obtaining heterogeneous materials featuring effects of the blocking of the transport of solvent ions and molecules. Studies using the methods of atomic force microscopy (AFM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and IR ...

Characterization of elastic-plastic properties of surface-modified layers introduced by carburizing

Mechanics of Materials, 2020
Abstract The mechanical performance of surface-modified layers is important during mechanical-component service. A simpler expression to characterize the carbon content of the surface-modified layers was proposed for alloy steel after carburizing. The tensile test method was used to determine the elastic–plastic properties of the surface-modified ...

Surface-Modified Ni-Rich Layered Cathode Materials Via Li-Reactive Inorganic Coatings

ECS Meeting Abstracts, 2018
In recent years, the demand for lithium ion batteries (LIBs) significantly increases due to the wide range of application, from consumer electronics to automotive industry. The improvement of the LIB’s energy density is one of the key factors to the mass market penetration of electric mobility.

Deposition of phospholipid layers on SiO2 surface modified by alkyl-SAM islands

Applied Surface Science, 2004
Abstract Formation of the supported planar bilayer of dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine (DPPC) on SiO 2 surfaces modified with the self-assembled monolayer (SAM) of octadecyltrichlorosilane (OTS) has been investigated by atomic force microscopy (AFM).

Anticorrosion properties of inorganic pigments surface-modified with a polyaniline phosphate layer

Progress in Organic Coatings, 2008
The paper deals with research into the effects of treating the surface of pigment particles with polyaniline layers in anticorrosion paints. The pigments involved were tested in a form coated with a polyaniline layer and in an uncoated form. To study anticorrosion properties, mixed metal oxides with the structure of spinel and perovskite were ...

Enhanced Electrochemical Performance of Ni-Rich Cathode Surface Modified with Double Layer

ECS Meeting Abstracts, 2016
Recently, the Ni-rich cathode materials (such as Li[Ni0.8Co0.15Al0.05]O2) have attracted a lot of attention because of their high specific discharge capacity. However, they have several challenges such as insufficient rate capability, cyclic performance and thermal stability to be overcome.
