Photoinduction of spontaneous surface relief gratings on Azo DR1 glass [PDF]
Surface relief gratings were spontaneously photoinduced from a collimated Nd:YAG laser beam at 532 nm on thin films of a disperse red 1 functionalized glass-forming compound. Pattern formation was studied by measuring the diffraction intensity of a He-Ne laser probe beam at 633 nm and by atomic force microscopy (AFM).

Investigation on tunnel stability considering pipe‐roof support with transparent soil technology
This study integrates transparent soil technology, 3D reconstruction and numerical simulation to captures the full‐field deformation of shield tunnel instability. Results demonstrate that pipe‐roof support enhances stability via the “soil‐arching barrier effect,” effectively restraining failure wedge development by extending stress transfer paths ...

This study proposes an exponentially‐constrained Gaussian mixture model (EcGMM) to quantify vertical fracture heterogeneity in stratified roof strata. The model integrates a piecewise exponential decay term capturing global stress dissipation with Gaussian components representing localized fracture intensification at lithological interfaces.

Ice‐related landforms in mountain areas have been hypothesized to play a key role in the survival of cold‐adapted species threatened by climate change. However, our understanding of such landforms acting as refugia remains speculative. Here we analyse occurrence data, collected through a standardized sampling at 471 sampling points across the European ...

Aftasten/Tantear: A sensorial, coalitional wayfinding among Muslim runners
Abstract Muslim recreational runners in Muslim‐minority settings that take up running as their preferred form of leisure indicate that they feel they have to navigate a sense of exclusion when running outdoors. This article explores the process of exploration and sensing in public, represented by the Dutch verb aftasten, to investigate the way Muslim ...
