An aging model for surface acoustic wave devices

IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control, 1993
The authors present a study of the phase-aging kinetics of a 591.2 MHz quartz-crystal surface acoustic wave (SAW) filter intended for application in an undersea telecommunication system. At aging temperatures from 50 to 140 degrees C, a previously established SAW-device aging model describes the time dependence of the phase aging.

Surface acoustic wave device

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2008
A surface acoustic wave device that can operate in alternate-phase mode and single-phase mode, and thus generate surface acoustic waves at two different frequencies. The device is based on a piezoelectric film deposited on an elastic substrate, and includes an electrode layer patterned as two interdigital electrodes and electrical source (2).

Thermal characterization of Surface Acoustic Wave devices

2013 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium (IUS), 2013
Reliability of micro-electronic devices is one of the most important issues in mobile communication systems and is significantly influenced by the thermal behavior of the components. This study presents different schemes for thermal characterization of a half-section ladder-type Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) filter which is acoustically passivated with a

Surface acoustic wave device and environmental difference detecting apparatus using the surface acoustic wave device

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2008
A surface acoustic wave device includes a three-dimensional substrate having an annular curved surface enabling to propagate a surface acoustic wave, and an electro-acoustic transducing element, which excites and propagates the surface wave along the surface, and receives the propagated surface wave.

Surface-acoustic-wave devices for communications

Proceedings of the IEEE, 1976
Surface-wave components have demonstrated performance capabilities in the VHF/UHF range which are available with no other filtering technique. The major advantages of the filters are their small size, high reliability, low cost, high Q, good reproducibility, temperature stability, wide dynamic range, and linear phase response, as well as special ...

Biosensing with surface acoustic wave devices

Proceedings of International Frequency Control Symposium, 2002
In this contribution we report on our experiments on biosensing in liquids with acoustic surface wave devices. We discuss a coating technique for protection of the device transducers from aggressive liquids. We then present a technique that constrains the liquid to the sensitive part of the device using glass capillaries.

Surface acoustic wave element, surface acoustic wave device, surface acoustic wave duplexer, and method of manufacturing surface acoustic wave element

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2007
A surface acoustic wave element includes a thin film electrode composed of monocrystal aluminum disposed on a piezoelectric substrate. At least one metal of Cu, Ta, W, and Ti is segregated in the thin film electrode composed of monocrystal aluminum. In this surface acoustic wave element, segregation of Cu or the like occurs in the thin film electrode ...

Surface acoustic wave devices and applications

Ultrasonics, 1973
Abstract Surface wave devices with their combination of versatility, robustness and close approach to theoretical performance will, for many years ahead, be attractive components for use in the generation and time compression of the chirp waveforms used in many modern radars. This paper outlines detailed device design considerations and describes the

Surface acoustic wave device, surface acoustic wave apparatus, and communications equipment

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2008
A second substrate 21 composed of a material having a lower dielectric constant than that of a piezoelectric substrate 2 having a transmission-side filter region 12 and a receiving-side filter region 13 formed therein is joined to the other main surface of the piezoelectric substrate 2, and a conductor layer 22 is formed throughout the other main ...
