Velocity shift of surface acoustic waves due to interaction with composite fermions in a modulated structure

open access: yes, 1998
We study the effect of a periodic density modulation on surface acoustic wave (SAW) propagation along a 2D electron gas near Landau level filling $\nu=1/2$.

Acoustic Sensing as a Tool for Brain Tumor Diagnostics

open access: yesAdvanced Sensor Research, Volume 5, Issue 2, February 2026.
Surface acoustic wave (SAW) sensing is used to distinguish non‐neoplastic brain tissue from primary and metastatic tumors based on their acoustic attenuation signatures. Ex vivo human brain samples reveal clear tissue‐specific mechanical profiles, correlating with stiffness and malignancy.

FEM Analysis of Sezawa Mode SAW Sensor for VOC Based on CMOS Compatible AlN/SiO2/Si Multilayer Structure

open access: yesSensors, 2018
A Finite Element Method (FEM) simulation study is conducted, aiming to scrutinize the sensitivity of Sezawa wave mode in a multilayer AlN/SiO2/Si Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) sensor to low concentrations of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), that is ...

Engineering Ultrasound Contrast Agents for Targeted Therapeutics: A Theranostic Approach to Drug Delivery, Gene Therapy, and Immunomodulation

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, Volume 6, Issue 2, February 2026.
Ultrasound contrast agents, including microbubbles and nanobubbles, transform imaging and targeted therapy through precise engineering of size, shell composition, and surface properties. This review explores how these innovations enable tissue‐specific delivery, enhance therapeutic efficacy, and extend applications from vascular imaging to tumor ...

Assessing Effects of Riboflavin/UV‐A Cross‐Linking on Aqueous Outflow Facility, Corneal Biomechanics and Their Association With Intraocular Pressure

open access: yesJournal of Biophotonics, Volume 19, Issue 2, February 2026.
Our study demonstrates that UV cross‐linking (CXL) reduces outflow facility while increasing corneal elasticity across IOP levels of 20–40 mmHg, measured using direct manometry and non‐contact optical coherence elastography. These results highlight both parameters as potential indicators for evaluating CXL effectiveness and monitoring keratoconus ...

Interplay Between Tectonics and Submarine Mass Transport Deposits in Cortes Basin: New High‐Resolution Geophysics in the Outer California Borderland

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 131, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract The Outer California Borderland (OCB) is an active transform plate boundary offshore Southern California, where the relationship between faulting and submarine mass transport deposits (MTDs) remains poorly understood. Onshore paleoseismic data provide high‐resolution earthquake records, whereas marine geophysical data capture longer‐term ...

A Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) Pressure Sensor Evaluation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
Abstract : The objective of this project was to evaluate the performance of surface acoustic wave (SAW) oscillators for potential application to SAW sonobuoys. The tests included the following: (1) oscillator frequency and time domain stability, (2) static loading sensitivity tests, and (3) underwater sensitivity and frequency response tests performed ...

Comparison of Transmission Line Methods for Surface Acoustic Wave Modeling [PDF]

open access: yes
Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) technology is low cost, rugged, lightweight, extremely low power and can be used to develop passive wireless sensors. For these reasons, NASA is investigating the use of SAW technology for Integrated Vehicle Health Monitoring (

ATR-FTIR Spectroscopic Analysis of Sorption of Aqueous Analytes into Polymer Coatings Used with Guided SH-SAW Sensors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Attenuated total internal reflectance Fourier transform infrared (ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy was used for the investigation of sorption of aqueous solutions of analytes into polymer coatings. A series of simple model polymers, such as poly(dimethylsiloxane),
