Topological Surface States in a Gyroid Acoustic Crystal

open access: yesAdvanced Science, 2023
The acoustic properties of an acoustic crystal consisting of acoustic channels designed according to the gyroid minimal surface embedded in a 3D rigid material are investigated.

High‐Throughput Exfoliation of Optoelectronic‐Grade MoS2 via Turbulent‐Flow Wet Jet Milling

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A scalable wet jet milling exfoliation method is demonstrated for producing optoelectronic‐grade MoS2 nanosheets using environmentally friendly ethyl cellulose in ethanol dispersion media. Guided by fluid dynamics modeling, this approach is optimized to achieve record‐high exfoliation throughput and concentration.

The Power Flow Angle of Acoustic Waves in Thin Piezoelectric Plates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The curves of slowness and power flow angle (PFA) of quasi-antisymmetric (A0) and quasi-symmetric (S0) Lamb waves as well as quasi-shear-horizontal (SH0) acoustic waves in thin plates of lithium niobate and potassium niobate of X-,Y-, and Z-cuts for ...

Measurement of sound speed versus depth in Antarctic ice with the South Pole Acoustic Test Setup [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The feasibility and design of an acoustic neutrino detection array in the South Pole ice depend on the acoustic properties of the ice. The South Pole Acoustic Test Setup (SPATS) was built to evaluate the acoustic characteristics of the ice in the 1 to ...

Unlocking Multi‐Valley Energy Pockets and Interface‐Induced Phonon Filtering in InSb Thermoelectrics by Reaction‐Driven Interface Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
InSb, a narrow‐bandgap semiconductor with high carrier mobility, is promising for thermoelectric energy conversion but suffers from high lattice thermal conductivity and strong bipolar conduction. Here, in situ interface engineering using Co2O3 nanoprecursors forms hierarchical CoSbx/In2O3/CoSb3 heterostructures that enhance phonon scattering and ...

Multilayer-graphene-based amplifier of surface acoustic waves

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2015
The amplification of surface acoustic waves (SAWs) by a multilayer graphene (MLG)-based amplifier is studied. The conductivity of massless carriers (electrons or holes) in graphene in an external drift electric field is calculated using Boltzmann’s ...

Piezoelectric Film Waveguides for Surface Acoustic Waves [PDF]

open access: yesЖурнал нано- та електронної фізики, 2016
The paper presents results of mathematical modeling of piezoelectric film waveguide structures for surface acoustic waves (SAW). Piezoelectric ZnO film is supposed to be placed on a fused quartz substrate.

A Non‐Reciprocal Architected Porous Medium

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In several fluid flow, energy‐dumping, and energy‐harvesting applications, a dominant flow direction or dominant resistance direction is desirable. In this study, we propose a simple modular geometry that doubles flow resistance in one direction relative to the opposite direction, while maintaining laminar viscous flow.

Characteristic measurement of a surface acoustic wave nano-stepping motor by using a fiber-optic Michelson interferometer

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2019
The actuation technique of a surface acoustic wave motor with nanometer scale linear motion was experimentally investigated in this study. The surface acoustic wave motor comprised a stator made of a Y+128° cut, X-propagation lithium niobate substrate ...

Feature Detection of Acoustically Induced Sea Surface Micro-motions with Terahertz Radar

open access: yesLeida xuebao, 2023
When underwater acoustic signals propagate to the water surface, the acoustic impedance difference between water and air leads to transverse microamplitude waves on the water surface.
