Tailoring Li‐ion Storage and Transport in Two‐Dimensional Conjugated Metal‐Organic Frameworks via Precise Nitrogen Incorporation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Two nitrogen‐doped 2D conjugated metal‐organic frameworks (2D c‐MOFs, namely Cu‐Nx‐OHBA, x = 2 or 4) are synthesized, featuring precise nitrogen incorporation via rational ligand design. The Cu‐Nx‐OHBA 2D c‐MOFs are largely tailorable by varying skeletal nitrogen density, with respect to electrical conductivity, Li‐storage capacitance, and Li‐transport

Patterned surface anchoring of nematic droplets at miscible liquid–liquid interfaces

open access: yes, 2017
We report on the internal configurations of droplets of nematic liquid crystals (LCs; 10-50 mu m-in-diameter; comprised of 4-cyano-4'-pentylbiphenyl and 4-(3-acryloyloxypropyloxy) benzoic acid 2-methyl-1,4-phenylene ester) sedimented from aqueous ...

Invisible Polymer Walls Enhance Reorientational Optical Nonlinearity in Oligothiophene‐Doped Liquid Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The polymer wall stabilized dye‐doped liquid crystals (PWLCs) enhance the sensitivity of photoinduced molecular reorientation in dye‐doped LC systems. The PWLC with an invisible polymer wall successfully reduces the threshold intensity and functions as an optical limiter under the incidence of low intensity light laser source.

Designed Lewis Acid–Base Passivation for High Performance Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Silicon's high cost and long energy payback time remain major barriers to the global expansion of solar power. In contrast, metal–halide perovskites offer abundant, solution‐processable absorbers, and have achieved efficiencies of 25%–30%, positioning them as strong competitors to silicon.

Unlocking Exceptional Strengthening in Aluminum Alloys via Interstitial Cottrell Atmosphere Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cyclic unloading‐aging‐reloading micro‐tensile tests under various aging durations and temperatures, combined with comprehensive microstructural characterization reveal that the yield point phenomenon in Aluminum‐Carbon (Al‐C) thin films originates from Cottrell atmosphere formation.

Dynamic Interfacial Chemistry of Choline Chloride as Electrolyte Additive for Stable Zn‐Iodine Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Choline chloride (ChCl) additive enables dynamic interface engineering in Zn‐I2 batteries by forming hydrophobic polyiodide complexes and a Zn‐stabilizing Ch+‐rich layer under electric field modulation. This dual‐function strategy suppresses iodine hydrolysis and dendrite formation, while optimizing Zn2+ solvation and transport for high‐efficiency ...

Nematic liquid crystal flow driven by time-varying active surface anchoring

open access: yes
We demonstrate the generation of diverse material flow regimes in nematic liquid cells as driven by time-variable active surface anchoring, including no-net flow, oscillatory flow, steady flow, and pulsating flow.
