Effect of Surface Charge on Colloidal Charge Reversal
The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2009The objective of this research work is to understand the effect of the surface charge density on the charge reversal phenomenon. To this end, we use experimental results and computer simulations. In particular, we measure the electrophoretic mobility of latex particles (macroions) in the presence of a multivalent electrolyte.

Surface Charge of Macrophages and Their Interaction With Charged Particles
Journal of Leukocyte Biology, 1988Abstract The distribution and concentration of surface ionogenic groups on murine peritoneal macrophages and the responses of their plasmalemma to charged markers were investigated by electron microscopy. Quantitation of the distribution of cationized ferritin (CF) as a marker for anionic groups on fixed cells revealed surface anions on ...

Charge Accumulation at InAs Surfaces
Physical Review Letters, 1996Angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy has been used to directly prove the existence of a charge accumulation layer at clean InAs surfaces. The formation of an accumulation layer is shown to be a common property of polar InAs surfaces, with the precise surface Fermi level position above the conduction band minimum determined by the surface geometry.

Bone Mineral and Surface Charge
Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1977A triple association has been observed between a high negative surface charge, bone morphogenetic activity, and in vitro recalcificaiton in implants of demineralized bone matrix. Proplast fills with bony tissue when implanted in the body and shows the same triple association.

The surface of soil colloids carries electric charges, and these surface charges are the basic cause for soil to possess a series of surface properties. Soil surface charges affect the chemical properties of the soil through varying the quantity of electric charge and the surface charge density. For example, adsorptions of cations and anions are caused

Surface Charge Properties of Kaolinite
Clays and Clay Minerals, 1996AbstractThe surface charge components of 2 Georgia kaolinites of differing degrees of crystallinity (KGa-1 and KGa-2) were determined using procedures based on charge balance concepts. Permanent structural charge density (σ0) was determined by measuring the surface excess of Cs, which is highly selective to permanent charge sites.

Surface charge and asbestos toxicity
Nature, 1977ASBESTOS is a serious occupational and environmental hazard because of its fibrogenic and carcinogenic actions on the lung. Asbestos fibres exist in various physical forms, all of which are toxic. It is not known, however, which form is the most hazardous or which fibre property is the most important for inducing the toxic effects. It is thus important

A review on factors that affect surface charge accumulation and charge-induced surface flashover
Nanotechnology, 2021Abstract The surface charge accumulation is very likely to trigger the surface flashover, which limits the large-scale application of DC GIL/GIS. This article comprehensively reviews the effect of six factors, including insulator-electrode shape, surface roughness of the insulator and conductor, metal particles, temperature, humidity,

Charged Surfaces and Interfacial Ions
Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2000Interfacial charge in a solid/liquid system is due to interactions of ions with surface sites affected by the electrostatic potential that is a consequence of their accumulation. The present theoretical approach is based on the so-called Surface Complexation Model that has several modifications known as either the 1-pK, the 2-pK, or the "MUSIC" model ...

Image charge at a metal surface
