Surface chemistry in tribology [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part J: Journal of Engineering Tribology, 2002
Surface chemistry is key to the understanding of tribological phenomena in the absence of a thick lubricant film. Progress in the development of surface analytical techniques has opened a new window into tribochemical phenomena and holds the promise of a better understanding of many critically important tribological processes. In this review the areas

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Synthesis of cerium oxide nanoparticles using Vitex extract

open access: yesХімія, фізика та технологія поверхні, 2020
The aim of this work was to study composition and antioxidant/reducing properties of Vitex cannabifolia leaves extract and to characterize it as a possible active agent for green synthesis of cerium oxide nanoparticles (CeO2-NPs).

Environment-mediated structure, surface redox activity and reactivity of ceria nanoparticles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Nanomaterials, with potential application as bio-medicinal agents, exploit the chemical properties of a solid, with the ability to be transported (like a molecule) to a variety of bodily compartments.

PICALM::MLLT10 translocated leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This comprehensive review of PICALM::MLLT10 translocated acute leukemia provides an in‐depth review of the structure and function of CALM, AF10, and the fusion oncoprotein (1). The multifaceted molecular mechanisms of oncogenesis, including nucleocytoplasmic shuttling (2), epigenetic modifications (3), and disruption of endocytosis (4), are then ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.
