Morphological growth of sputtered MoS2 films [PDF]
Sputtered MoS2 films from 300 A to 20,000 A thick were deposited on metal and glass surfaces. The substrate effects such as surface temperature, finish, pretreatment and chemistry as they affect the film formation characteristics were investigated by ...

Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

FEATURES OF LIGHT SCATTERING BY SURFACE FRACTAL STRUCTURES
The average coefficient of light scattering by surface fractal structures is calculated within the limits of the Kirchhoff method. A normalized band-limited Weierstrass function is presented for modeling 2D fractal rough surfaces.

Composite medical systems based on hydrophobic silica and gelatin
The use of hydrophobic silicas as medical adsorbents in comparison with hydroxyl silicas allows to increase the adsorption of some toxins on their surface due to the reduction of water adsorption.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.
