Metal surface defect detection based on improved YOLOv5

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
AbstractDuring the production of metal material, various complex defects may come into being on the surface, together with large amount of background texture information, causing false or missing detection in the process of small defect detection. To resolve those problems, this paper introduces a new model which combines the advantages of CSPlayer ...

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Miniature mobile sensor platforms for condition monitoring of structures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In this paper, a wireless, multisensor inspection system for nondestructive evaluation (NDE) of materials is described. The sensor configuration enables two inspection modes-magnetic (flux leakage and eddy current) and noncontact ultrasound.

Improved YOLOv7-based steel surface defect detection algorithm

open access: yesMathematical Biosciences and Engineering, 2023
<p>In response to the limited detection ability and low model generalization ability of the YOLOv7 algorithm for small targets, this paper proposes a detection algorithm based on the improved YOLOv7 algorithm for steel surface defect detection.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

A surface defect detection method for steel pipe based on improved YOLO

open access: yesMathematical Biosciences and Engineering
Surface defect detection is of great significance as a tool to ensure the quality of steel pipes. The surface defects of steel pipes are charactered by insufficient texture, high similarity between different types of defects, large size differences, and ...

The influence of heterogenous porosity on silicon nitride/steel wear in lubricated rolling contact [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Heterogeneous porosity is detected on the surface and subsurface of hot isostatically pressed (HIPed) silicon nitride spherical rolling elements. The extent of the localised porosity accounts for an area of 6% of the rolling element surface and 4% of the

Weighted Matrix Decomposition for Small Surface Defect Detection

open access: yesMicromachines, 2022
Detecting small defects against a complex surface is highly challenging but crucial to ensure product quality in industry sectors. However, in the detection performance of existing methods, there remains a huge gap in the localization and segmentation of small defects with limited sizes and extremely weak feature representation.

Autophagosome marker, LC3, is released extracellularly via several distinct pathways

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study establishes a novel HiBiT‐tagging system for ultrasensitive detection of LC3, revealing multiple pathways for its extracellular secretion. It demonstrates that LC3 is released via both autophagy‐dependent and ‐independent mechanisms, including a novel route for nonlipidated LC3‐I.

Gyroscope Pivot Bearing Dimension and Surface Defect Detection [PDF]

open access: yesSensors, 2011
Because of the perceived lack of systematic analysis in illumination system design processes and a lack of criteria for design methods in vision detection a method for the design of a task-oriented illumination system is proposed. After detecting the micro-defects of a gyroscope pivot bearing with a high curvature glabrous surface and analyzing the ...
