Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Ergonomic evaluation of electronic paper: Influences of anti-reflection surface treatment, illumination, and curvature on legibility and visual fatigue

open access: yes, 2010
[[abstract]]The intent of this study is to investigate some critical factors that affect legibility and visual fatigue while reading on an electronic-paper display in terms of ergonomics.

Stimulus Optimization for Softness Perception on a Friction-Variable Tactile Texture Display

open access: yesSci
Surface texture displays are touch panels that provide tactile feedback. Presenting softness sensations on such rigid surfaces remains a challenge, and effective methods are not yet established. This study explores how low-frequency frictional modulation

Site-directed mutagenesis of Aspergillus niger phytase gene and its cell-surface display on Komagataella phaffii

open access: yes浙江大学学报. 农业与生命科学版, 2018
A full-length sequence of phytase gene (phyA) from Aspergillus niger ZJUY was cloned and modified based on polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-directed mutagenesis, aiming at addressing phytase denaturalization and deactivation during the process of ...

In-plane hyperbolic polariton tuners in terahertz and long-wave infrared regimes

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
One of the main bottlenecks in the development of terahertz (THz) and long-wave infrared (LWIR) technologies is the limited intrinsic response of traditional materials.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Postbiotics derived from recombinant lactic acid bacteria exhibit high IL6-binding capacity and suppress IL6-induced STAT3 signaling

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
IntroductionWith growing evidence of clinical efficacy of probiotics in various diseases, safety concerns have arisen regarding the therapeutic use of live probiotic bacteria, especially in critically ill, immunocompromised, and pediatric populations ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Three dimensional displays of tomographic images using shaded surfaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
Several medical imaging techniques are capable of producing tomographic images, corresponding to cross-sections through the body. A stack of adjacent sections contains three dimensional information about the organs of interest, and this can be presented ...
