Horizon effects with surface waves on moving water [PDF]
Surface waves on a stationary flow of water are considered, in a linear model that includes the surface tension of the fluid. The resulting gravity-capillary waves experience a rich array of horizon effects when propagating against the flow.

Surface effects at the nanoscale based on Gurtin’s theory: a review
The fields of nanotechnology and nanoscience are full of opportunities and challenges. The needed modification of classical continuum mechanics to account for the dramatically novel characteristics and phenomena determining the mechanical response of ...

Effects of corners in surface superconductivity [PDF]
AbstractWe study the Ginzburg–Landau functional describing an extreme type-II superconductor wire with cross section with finitely many corners at the boundary. We derive the ground state energy asymptotics up to o(1) errors in the surface superconductivity regime, i.e., between the second and third critical fields.

Analysis of Ice Phenology of Middle and Large Lakes on the Tibetan Plateau
Considered as a sensitive indicator of climate change, lake ice phenology can have significant influences on regional climate by affecting lake-atmosphere energy and water exchange.

Surface stress, surface elasticity, and the size effect in surface segregation [PDF]
Surface stress and surface elasticity of low-index fcc surfaces have been studied using effective-medium theory potentials. In addition to total-energy calculations giving stress components and elastic data for the surface as a whole, the use of artificial atoms with modified size allows us to probe the stress and elasticity of individual layers.

The Liquid-Gas Phase Transitions in a Multicomponent Nuclear System with Coulomb and Surface Effects [PDF]
The liquid-gas phase transition is studied in a multi-component nuclear system using a local Skyrme interaction with Coulomb and surface effects. Some features are qualitatively the same as the results of Muller and Serot which uses relativistic mean ...

Obesogenic effect of Bisphenol P on mice via altering the metabolic pathways
Bisphenol P (BPP), structurally similar to bisphenol A, is commonly identified in the samples of environment, food, and humans. Unfortunately, very little information is currently available on adverse effects of BPP. The obesogenic effects and underlying

EFFECT OF SURFACE TREATMENT ON ENAMEL SURFACE ROUGHNESS
To compare the effects of different methods of surface treatment on enamel roughness.Ninety human maxillary first premolars were randomly divided into three groups (n=30) according to type of enamel surface treatment: I, acid etching; II, Er:YAG laser; III, Nd:YAG laser.

Bayesian Asteroseismology of 23 Solar-Like Kepler Targets [PDF]
We study 23 previously published Kepler targets to perform a consistent grid-based Bayesian asteroseismic analysis and compare our results to those obtained via the Asteroseismic Modelling Portal (AMP).
