Strategic Design of Soft Actuators in Translational Medical Robotics for Human‐Centered Healthcare
Soft robotics enables biocompatible, compliant medical devices, but clinical translation requires design‐driven engineering beyond materials. This perspective reviews implantable, surgical, and wearable systems by actuation mechanism, highlighting how optimized architectures and integration improve mechanical interfacing, adaptability, and durability ...

Feasibility of High-Density Surface Electromyography for the Detection of Neuromuscular Disorders in Children. [PDF]
ABSTRACT Introduction/Aims Diagnosing neuromuscular disorders in children is challenging. Concentric needle electromyography (CNEMG) is the standard for electrophysiological assessments but has limitations in pediatric populations. High‐density surface electromyography (HDsEMG) provides a noninvasive technique with superior spatial resolution, enabling

Assessment of Carbon/Salt/Adhesive Electrodes for Surface Electromyography Measurements
This paper presents the evaluation of novel electrodes for surface electromyography (sEMG) measurements. The electrodes are based on the mixture of carbon powder, quaternary salt, and viscoelastic polymeric adhesive (carbon/salt/adhesive or simply CSA ...

Passive activity enhances residual control ability in patients with complete spinal cord injury
Patients with complete spinal cord injury retain the potential for volitional muscle activity in muscles located below the spinal injury level. However, because of prolonged inactivity, initial attempts to activate these muscles may not effectively ...

Synchronization‐Dissipation in the Cardiorespiratory System
By modeling central nervous coupling and viscoelastic interactions in the cardiorespiratory system we show that synchronization produces a 10% gain in cardiac efficiency in humans. It is surmised that respiratory sinus arrhythmia improves cardiac pumping efficiency by reducing dynamic stress and power dissipation in the pulmonary vasculature.
