Changes in ice-shelf buttressing following the collapse of Larsen A Ice Shelf, Antarctica, and the resulting impact on tributaries

open access: yesJournal of Glaciology, 2016
The dominant mass-loss process on the Antarctic Peninsula has been ice-shelf collapse, including the Larsen A Ice Shelf in early 1995. Following this collapse, there was rapid speed up and thinning of its tributary glaciers.

Evolution of Active Regions

open access: yesLiving Reviews in Solar Physics, 2015
The evolution of active regions (AR) from their emergence through their long decay process is of fundamental importance in solar physics. Since large-scale flux is generated by the deep-seated dynamo, the observed characteristics of flux emergence and ...

Optimizing Direct Contact Membrane Distillation by RSM for Water Reclamation from Effluent of the RO Unit at Esfahan Refinery [PDF]

open access: yesآب و فاضلاب, 2019
Considering the challenges faced and emphases being put in the last two decades on the water consumption at Esfahan Oil Refining Company (EORC), substantial efforts were made on its optimization and recovery of effluent from various unit operations.

Deposition of model chains on surfaces: Anomalous relation between flux and stability [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Chemical Physics, 2013
Model chains are studied via Monte Carlo simulations which are deposited with a fixed flux on a substrate. They may represent, e.g., stiff lipophilic chains with an head group and tail groups mimicking the alkyl chain. After some subsequent fixed simulation time we determine the final energy as a function of flux and temperature.

On Moisture Flux of the Indian Summer Monsoon: A New Perspective

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2019
Moisture flux is the driver of the Indian summer monsoon on all space‐time scales and its accurate representation in monsoon simulation models is crucial.

Ozone Flux Measurement and Modelling on Leaf/Shoot and Canopy Scale

open access: yesItalian Journal of Agronomy, 2008
The quantitative study of the ozone effects on agricultural and forest vegetation requires the knowledge of the pollutant dose absorbed by plants via leaf stomata, i.e. the stomatal flux.

LES in the Surface Layer: Surface Fluxes, Scaling, and SGS Modeling

open access: yesJournal of the Atmospheric Sciences, 1998
Abstract The surface fluxes in the fine-mesh numerical codes used in small-scale meteorology are typically diagnosed from resolvable-scale variables through surface-exchange coefficients. This is appropriate if the aspect ratio (length/height) of the grid volume adjacent to the surface is very large, as in mesoscale models.

The location of the thermodynamic atmosphere–ice interface in fully coupled models – a case study using JULES and CICE [PDF]

open access: yesGeoscientific Model Development, 2016
In fully coupled climate models, it is now normal to include a sea ice component with multiple layers, each having their own temperature. When coupling this component to an atmosphere model, it is more common for surface variables to be calculated in the
